Door UN-Lock Problems
Howdy... new here.
I'm a BMW E30 specialist (85 325e) but just as a hobby. I have two autos... the 1985 BMW 325e, original owner, 240K+ miles, and this 1988 Bronco II, 175K miles and really lovely, mostly. I'm also a mod for one of the bigger BMW DIY boards out there.
But when it comes to this Bronco II, I'm stumped sometimes! I try to take care of the problems that come up on my 88 Bronco II as much as I can, but sometimes the engineering just makes me dizzy!
I tried the link to the tech article from that section and get to some AOL thing that doesn't let me furter on to get the doc (maybe it doesn't exist anymore).
I've tried to trace the wiring... I think my "unlock" relay is bad. All 3 doors lock like lightening, so I'm pretty sure the actuators are OK. I've tried both switches, and neither UNlocks the doors.
I called the local Ford place today, and they told me they THINK it's behind the dash on the driver's side or on the firewall on the driver's side. I couldn't find it in either place. I tried tracing the wires, and the best I could do is find a big connector, lower than the battery tray, in front of it and behind the passenger side headlight. I see the appropriately colored wires comeing from the passenger pillar, and I also see the appropriate colors going out, bu then the wire bundle disappears and I get lost.
I have a Chilton manual, but it just shows a wiring diagram and no location at all for the appropriate relays.
At one point, I had a big dog that used to lean against the passenger door. I'm sure he could have leaned against the "unlock" switch on that side for some time, burning something out.
Any suggestions would REALLY be appreciated... I'm having fits with this... in the BMW, I can replace the actuators and the Central Locking Module in my sleep. Here, I can't even find the parts!

Here's that wiring diagram again that I posted in the SuperDuty forum.
Remember, it could also be a faulty "Lock" relay (the NC contacts) or a bad ground with going to it.
These relays should be standard Bosch SPDT automotive-types, available at any parts store, so I would stay away from your "friendly" Ford dealer for them unless you enjoy the financial punishment.

I don't have a clue........I have always lock/unlocked my doors the old fashioned way without aid of technology. (Read here, old school)
BUT.........If it were me, I would start looking under the black plastic cover, under the hood on the passenger side, that also covers the fuel pump, EEC, emissions, etc. relays. This is where I was able to corner and defeat all the electronic gremlins in my B2.

Thanks Dave... Was the first place I looked... I'll look again tomorrow, but I don't think they are there. The wires from the passenger door run through the fender, all the way to under the back of the passenger headlight, where it connects with another huge bundle of wires, the same colors, but I can't see those wire colors in the cluster of stuff under that cover. There's not that much under there in my car. I'll check again tomorrow and post back, perhaps with a pic...
