i just recently purchased my Supercab. it is a 1979 F-250 Supercab. Has a 460/4bbl Edelbrock with a C-6 trans. It is the "Ranger Explorer", so it has that sexy hood ornament on it. i found "The Big Sexy" on Ebay, bid on it, and lost the bid. as did everyone. reserve was not met. i waited a few days, emailed the guy and got the truck for $800, $140 for gas to get there and back, $50 on a hotel for 1 nite, and about $50 for food for girlfriend and me. 2 full days driving. Everything went perfect up to Kansas City Mo. and back. only bad part was disrespecting the Ford by towing it wish a chevy. in fact, i almost stopped a few times and put the chevy on the trailer.. i really felt about that.. but, it was a chevy to tow or a dodge...
i got the big sexy home, did some minor adjustments to the carb, replaced the wiper switch and now i have a great daily driver. all she needs is a good set of nasty mudders on the back are we are in business...
i will have some photos posted in the next few days.
she sure looks good sitting with the '79 F-350 crew cab and the '79 F-250 single cab Monster Truck.
smurf-slayer- thanks for the info its been hard to find a drivers door and hinges i hope soon to have some pictures to show the dark wine and tan look great .77F150 460 c6 borg. 4:11 shore is a horse . mike anderson s.c.u.s.a.
SmurfSlayer. my f-350 is 2wd... if it were 4x4 i might would think about keeping it. currently, it is on the "maybe a project" board... i just dont know if i want to sink anymore money into.. we got it around 1985 or so.. has seen alot of work. but body is in fair shape.. the 351M my brother put in it is crapped out.. i am not an engine mechanic (on trucks/cars anyway) so i wouldnt even know where to begin to guess why it's locked up.. i have another 351m in a 1981 rag a bought but i have promised my girl that i would put it in her soon to be bought 1978 f-250.. you may lie to alot of people, but dont ever lie to momma..haha..
but yeah, the f-350 more than likely will be sold.. might put it on ebay.. cant really decide yet..
the f-250 monster will stay here.. it is strictly an off-roader.. used for pulling.. things like other trucks. trees.. several other trucks.. we "redneck" in it..
i do have a question concerning my new (to me) supercab if anyone cares to give some help/advice...sometimes, when i go from reverse to park (c-6) is makes this metal "BANG" noise.. keep in mind, my idle is pretty high right now.. i havent had the time to really sit and figure out the edelbrock yet.
any ideas anyone?
thanks.
Wade
I have a 79 f250 supercab with cap"paid$ 450 , in realy nice shape. very little rust in cab. am doing the front breaks, replaced every thing now there frozen?? what did i do wrong?
I had to delive a Ford tractor for a guy I used to work for when I had a good back, but he had me take this guy's tractor out to farm land, and on the way their tucked behind a bunch of brush sat a 77 F-250 Supercab 4x4 D60 rear, and D44 front. The body is rough but the bed is good, and the under side is sweet.Farmer said he would like to see someone do something with it couse it was a good truck to him from the day he bought it new.$200.00,and im putting it on the empty trailer I was coming home with.Lot's of good part's inside the cab as well.Solide door's,and inside panel's.Can't wait to take the invatory of goodie's I scored!!!
I just acquired a 1976 F150 SC LB 351 about a month ago. Always liked the look of them, have wanted one for some time. Found this one at a charity car lot for $500, so I bought it as/is. Its the Ranger model, jumper seats in the back instead of bench.
Towed it home with my 77 F150 (460/C6). It cranked right up, but the carb needs a rebuild. The body is in great shape, a couple of dings but no rust. I am going to swap the drivetrains between the trucks. I rebuilt the C6 and I want the 460, and the regular cab body is shot so the SC will get all the goodies! I like the 77 bed and emblems better, too, so they might get traded. If I sell the 77 when I'm done, I ought to have a pretty nice 76 SC, and I won't have anything more invested (I might even stand to make a few bucks).
