Calling All Supercabs
my 78 SC was born a F250 Ranger XLT but now is a F350. it has a rebuilt Dana 60 front Dana 70 rear with 411 gears. F350 brake booster, 9000# winch that works off of the power steering pump, custom 1/8" steel front bumper, dual batt, heavy duty one wire alt(GM), sway bar front and rear, rebuilt C6, rebuilt 400 motor with all the goodies an about 2000mi on it. heavy duty ford power steering pump EVERYTHING under the hood is either powder coated or painted. new ac system, new interior with high back buckets from a bronco with the console, tilt wheel, cruise control, intermit wipers, custom headliner, full back seat, am/fm/cd, dual tanks, storage compartment on right side of bed, factory tie downs on bed side and tailgate, trailer hitch, 4" lift with 32" tires. the motor has a real nice low end torque RV cam in it. i can even break the tires loose going into 2nd gear. not bad for a 7000# truck. i also have the factory bed cap and the truck is RUST FREE. all that is left to do is finish painting the back half of the frame the rears and the body, i have about $13,500 into it.

Actually those headlights are Rectangular ...not square.
A square is 4 equal length sides
A rectangle 4 sided object with 2 different sets of equal sides.
Could you imagine going to the White House and say: "you want to visit the Round room & not the OVAL room" because an Oval is close to being round?
Or is calling the oval room "the round room" accepted ?
Then I got myself a 38' 5th-wheel that weighs 5tons "dry" and drops a ton+ on the rear axle..."OOPS! Where'd my power go?!"
...and here I am trying to find out more about GAWR, GVWR, GCWR, and what I can do to improve climbing power, fuel efficiency, general performance.
Decoding my VIN# w/ the tables in my Chilton "FORD PICKUPS 1956-86" brings more mysteries than info. I THINK it has a 4.10 r. axle, and was some sort of "package" - only because "4 1 0" are the 1st 3 numbers on the axle-tag, and there are TEN (10) leaf springs on each side of rear. Adding to my confusion
, some knowledgable folks over on the Towing Forum tell me that the GVWR & GAWRs on my door-frame tag simply DO NOT MATCH the other info & description I gave.If you have any info re this trucks capcities, or not-expensive ways to improve towing power, will be DEE-lighted to hear from you.
If you're a "Classic '70's enthusiast, I'll add that
-"The Tank" survived roads in s. Mexico no other vehicle I've ever heard-of could ['cept those tanks w/ tracks 'n' BIG guns
]-has only moderate rust in the fenders behind the r. wheels, but DOES need a paint-job badly
-has held up to 7 pretty muchachas plus myself and some boxes of parts in the cab
-o gosh, wished my Spanish was better, but it was FUN!
-sorry! isn't going to be available when I croak, as my will stipulates I be buried in it. Heh-heh
460 mildly warmed up, 2wd, no rust, lived in Washington State. Bought truck in 1980
from 1st owner. 214K miles. Have had numerous vehicles since then, still like my old
Ford best. Its like the rabbit with the batteries, It Just Keeps On Running. Intend on
doing the interior and body this winter.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Pretty much have a new interior all ready to go in, from ebay and aftermarket vendors (AZ sun does kill interiors). Just about have enough saved from not having a payment and huge insurance bill for a 4" lift and new wheels/tires. Couldn't be happier cruising down the road in a classic, and it gets lots of stares from those in the know!
I had to build mine from SCRATCH living in upstae NY,and being on a fixed income due to failed back surgery's,but if yea look in my gallery you can see the build up pic.'s or some of them anyway's,and now I have a 1979 Built to a F350 4X4 dually 460/C6?NP205,Dana 60 front, and Dana 70 rear with 3:73's for gear's.I have $7500.00 in sale's slip's to get the truck where it is now.I used a 1977 cab that was in 85%shape with inter.wiper's,and the body was a trailer special, and the 1979 frame I used was a Camper special. To me the truck is priceless!!!Take a look it's in my gallery.Even the frame right after sand blasting, and hanging from my engine hoist.Every bushing,spring,nut/bolt under the body is brand new.Tow's my backhoe like it was a L8000(LOL). To the mods around here THIS IS NOT A SALES AD. If anyone would like to contact me about it I can't help that, but it's not intended as a sales ad.
