Calling All Supercabs
originally 400/C6, now 351W/C6. Tan and white with tan interior, rear bench. I love it. I bought it for $650 and put a transmission in it, rebuilt the front-end and the brakes all the way around. It already had aluminum wheels on it. No real problems until I took it down for the engine swap.
I wish I had the time, money and space to collect them.

The truck has lots of rust, especially in the floor and around the cab mounts, thanks to VA winters and years around chicken farms. Rick may remember my note from a few weeks ago, but I found a totally rust free cab (w/ AC) in TN from a fellow FTE member. I plan on swapping out cabs this spring. I'm constantly working on it and eventually I'll get it where I want it.
Yellowrosefarm, wonder where you are in VA?

I am leaning towards "arrest-me red."
It doesn't have anything in the back. Not even panels. Is this normal for buying a supercab without seats or what?
The only options my truck has is the snow plow prep package. Which conesits of 5 clearance lights on roof, gauge package, 4500lb axle (F250, std. F350), HD shocks, battery, alternator. And the AM radio. Only two options.
Rust free! No rust on wheelwells, cab corners, etc. Driver's floor is getting soft, though. I'm working on that right now.
Pics are in my gallery.
I just bought a 77 F250 Supercab. It says F250 Custom. Anyone know what "Custom" means?
It has a sliding rear window, venting side windows, rear fold down bench seat. 400 automatic. I bought it Saturday for $1100.
I hope like hell I did good because I just paid the boys at Les Schwab for 4 new shocks, a new steering gearbox (my request), some kinda tie rod thingy on the right side, repack front bearings, 4 wheel brake job with all new hoses and new rear drums, and a 4 wheel alignment. And they pounded a leaf spring back into place that had shifted cocka. (They said it was a leaf had been added after stock). Other than all that ($1400) they said the rest of it was in excellent condition. So now I'm 2500 into a truck that at least drives 60MPH strait down the highway with my hands off the wheel.
Certain options were available with it.
It usually meant: Rubber floor mat, standard door panels, etc.
Dual tanks would be an option.
Look up underneath the seat in the springs/webbing for a build sheet.

Custom is the "stripper" model, meaning no options or anything.
For 73-79, Ford offered four trim levels.
Custom = stripper verison, nothing. you add the options yourself or whatever.
Ranger = added sound deadener, insulating, more chrome, different seat pattern. Some mechanical features are included such as power steering, A/C, the likes.
Ranger XLT = about halfway of getting into a Lincoln equipped truck. Fancy seats, carpeting everywhere, tilt, cruise, etc.
Ranger Liarat = the mother lode! Loaded to no end with options and such. Rides like a truck, has everything a Lincoln would!
Between the Ranger and the XLT there is the
Ranger Explorer Like MINE.
Includes: headliner,Hood Emblem,Carpeting,colour coded decal striping,special upolstery,etc
What about those **Rectangular** headlights too?

The Explorer is more of an option/package than its own trim level. You could get the Explorer package on all four trim levels.
Rectangular headlights? Custom got the round headlights in 1978. Ranger and above got the rectangular ones. 1979 was on all models.
My custom has a headliner. It's a plain-jane white painted, painted trim to hold the headliner, and white sunvisors. Ranger and above got the color keyed ones. Ranger got a dotted cardboard headliner, XLT and Lairat had cloth with four rectangular buttons to hold the headliner (eight for supercab/crewcab)

They don't have square headlights.
