Mine is a 76 F250 custom. I bought out of a salvage yard for $750 10 yrs. ago. It had a 360 to start but it was pretty tired when I got it and didn't last long. I replaced it with a 67 390 and c6 from a 67 LTD. A buddy of mine rebuilt the trans a few yrs. back. I've got 1 ton springs with a dana 60 rear along with the same up front. It's a 2 wd with air con. No crome except for the front bumper, mirrors, etc. All white with green interior.I've rebuilt almost the entire driveline over the yrs. She's rusty a little bent up but a strong old truck. To gene2no, I'm not sure about all the codes but I can tell you that c is 60's decade, and 4 is the year it was made. That's a 64 390 head youv'e got.
My father gave me the rolling chassis from his '79 F-250 SuperCab longbed 4x4. It has a 400, NP435, NP205, D44 front, D60 rear, and one heavy duty suspension with factory sway bars. The body was pretty bad so he pulled it and got rid of it, I managed to find another SuperCab relatively cheap and am in the process of fixing it up so I can put the truck back together.
78 F250 Extended Cab
Has anyone replaced rear cab supports? Also is there anything out there on steps to replace rockers, cab supports, floors (picture/what order)
I have 3 SuperCabs (1) 78 250 4x4 longbed, 1 78 150 4x4 longbed and (1) 76 2wd long bed. I recently aquired the 250. The 150 has been a great rig, owned it for ten years +. It will be fun to get to know the 250 and all of it's qirks. The 150 4x4 is really an odd duck as it is physically the same as the 250 except for the axles. The front springs are heavy leafs and the GVW is 7300#. It came with factory overloads and the heavy cooling package. The weak link is the brakes. That is the biggest reason I snatched up a 250 when I found one is the brakes are so much better. This is my first post in about 6 years-been pretty busy and the web site changed format during that time-never bothered to sign back up until now.
I recently aquired a 78 F-150 supercab 4x2. It's in very good condition; I am the third owner. The only rust spots are small dings in the paint on the body, factory A/C, PS, PB. It sports a mildly built 302/C6 combo with a 9" outback thats running 3.55s. I got rather lucky on this one I picked it up locally found it sitting on the side of the road for $3000.00 so I called on it (as I have always wanted one of these) and the guy said I was the only person to call on it since he put it up 2 weeks prior. Anyhew the engine is freshly rebuilt with 30,000 on it, and many other things had been repaired or replaced so I know this guy took a loss, especially since he took very good care of the truck (logged all his repairs and maintenence even). I just finished loading in a dealer installed cruise unit from a 76 F-150 donar, and the ever popular delay wiper mod. Over all I am very happy with this truck
This year I bought my 1978 F-350 Ranger XLT Camper Special supercab for $1500.00. The only rust it has is surface rust at the bottom of each door. I was thrilled to find one with good cab corners and rear wheel wells.
It has a 460 with the added transmission cooler, HUGE radiator, dual tanks, cruise control and a/c that still works. Amazingly, the rear seat was not included since this was a factory no option. I added a seat from a late 80's model and it works just fine. This summer I used it just as it was meant to be used - I put a 9 1/2 foot Mitchell camper on it and hit the mountains of Colorado! What a blast.
I recently purchased a 78 F150 custom supercab from the original owner. I'm going to be taking some pictures soon to share with you guys. The previous owner took great care of this truck, but it does need some work, hence the reason he sold it to me for only 800 smackers.
By the way, this is only my second post in here but I can't WAIT to get to know you all. This is not only my first truck, but my first "project" of this magnitude. It's a little overwhelming.
I love the idea of Supercab gallery.I had to build one from the ground up to have one.It took several month's of searching for just the cab,and box.But now I have a 460/C6/NP205 D60 front, and D70 rear Supercab that I would never even ponder the thought of selling or getting rid of it.Wierd thing is that their is 4 other Supercab's with in a 10 mile ratius of me,and one of them is 2 door's down from me.
hellow fellow supercab owners, i have a 78 F-150 Ranger Supercab 4x4, it has a 400 with a c6 behind it, it has a long bed, the bed is shot, the cab corners shot, hole in drivers side floor, and the truck is also totaled, hasent slowed it down any, just aint my daily driver no more till i can fix the body up(hood is tied down with bungee cords, its not to safe on the highway), it starts no mater what, even it its -20 degress out it starts usally on first or second try. if any one has any body parts in kansas i would gladdly take them if there in decent to good condtion.
I just joined the club! I've been searching for a few years, and just bought a 78 F-250 4X4 supercab off e-bay. No rust, and only a couple small dents. I'll be replacing the 460 with a 6bt cummins! Should be a fun project!
