As long as you have power steering, because if you put one of them on a old none PS tractor and hit a rock/dirt berm/tree limb/stump and all the impact force comes back thru the steering linkage it can whip spin the steering wheel...great way to get a broke thumb/hand.

I did not have a steering stabilizer on my Bronco (to allow for a futher range of steering) and even thought I have PS on it. Once time I hit a big rock on a trail and it whip spun the steering wheel and almost broke my hand. Yes I was driving "thumbs out" when it happened. It also bottomed out the sector gear (inside the steering box) and cracked the end cap. I now have a steering stabilizer on it.

Also a great item to put on a old school steering wheel lawn mower.

The tractor has hydraulic steering similar to what Alan runs on EQ so unless I really get it in a jam, there's not much kick back.

good afternoon missouri... rich i have a spinner like that on my bus (only very vintage).. makes turning that huge steering wheel with no power steering almost bearble.... yes it takes real manpower to drive the ole 46 bus.. i dont even know if i can still do it...

bj at least you are still getting things done.. .. it has been over a week and i still dont have the comet going.. the hold up is the trans lines and generator mount bolts.. just cant seem to work up the gumption to get down on the ground and work under anything anymore.. although soon enough i will have to move it so i can load firewood onto the frt. porch before the cold catches up with me

dave1 sounds like you are becoming a road maintenance expert...

have been seeing some deer moving .. and plenty of hunters too... hearing lots of gunfire, those ole boys better respect shooting around houses.. those orange vests make for good targets
the rest of ya'll behave at home and on the road.... and enjoy the nice weather

Mallory 108-130 MFD 220vac ( I believe I have to match the microfarads, so need a 108-130, but can step up the VAC to 250 or even more). Sound correct? Other #'s on the capacitor.

I am going to go pull the run capacitor and get those #'s also.
The switch is inside the motor opposite pulley end of the shaft.
That's a start capacitor not a run capacitor. Yes get close on the microfarads voltage can be higher

We're back from the banquet. A guy started building a monster truck in 1981. He worked on it for 42 years. He never thought it was quite done. It never had the 66s put on it. It debuted 2 years after he passed away this past weekend. It was the very first time it was tired up. ....there's a life lesson there. Don't wait for the perfect time. Just do it now.

Ok thank you for the location of the switch. And yes those #'s are for the bigger start capacitor, and the smaller one is the run capacitor.

Alan I spy a stacked frame set up on the Snowman, interesting for sure. And one beautiful truck without a doubt.

Morning all.
Our Bolivar trip was a success. My son's goal was to get me my first deer. Saturday morning we saw one just at shooting hours but it was too dark to get a good look at him. Then a coyote came by, Sam was about to introduce it to some lead but it turned down the hill. But shortly after that about 8 doe came running by, no good shot. Then we spotted a doe in the field but we could just see it's ears. The grass is about 6' tall in my dad's fields...gotta get down there more and clean those fields up. Well I walked up to her and she jumped up but never got a look. Then as we moved to another location about 4 doe walked by. The stopped with a pole barn in the background so I didn't want to risk that shot. They then moved over but I had a tree blocking my view but Sam didn't. So he got his doe. We cleaned that up (That's the royal we, I didn't do too much. I would just get in his way). I did have a potential shot at one time, but I was not quick enough on target and fire. Not enough shooting.
We hit brunch at Springfield Avenue. It was busy at 10:30am. Quick nap then back in the field.
We sat for a couple of hours and nothing. Then Sam stood up to pee and at that point I heard some rustling. So I stood up and looked behind me and there were 3 doe. I got on her quick and fired. She ran off down a huge hill. There was only 10 minutes left of shooting time, so darkness hit us quick. We spotted her and got to about 20 yards, but could only see her eyes, so I was hesitant to shoot (Mistake). She jumped up and at least headed towards the river where we have a field access. Trudged up the hill to get our stuff and back to the house for the Mule. Grabbed dads snubnose 38 (mistake #2). We found her but again could only see her eyes. Well Sam took 3 shot, I took 2 (found round chamber). The last shot she moved a bit. Found where she moved and were waiting. Some people came to the road and yelled at us that we can't be there so we went and spoke with them. They thought we were on my uncles land which this guy rents. We convinced him we were on our land and tracking a doe and not hunting on my uncles land.
We go back and spot her again and then I run back to the house to reload and get a rifle. She was just standing there looking at us. So Sam finished her off (trusted his shooting over mine)
Sam quartered out the deer while dad and I ran to get Casey's pizza. He was done when we got back.

Bad shot on my part, got a lung. I need to spend some time at the range.
Sam has a freezer full of deer and I think my dad really enjoyed our visit and the adventures.

Not Gwen is off to Springfield and will return Tuesday afternoon. As soon as she gets home we hit the road for Tallahasee Florida for NAIA cross country nationals.
That is going to be some long driving.

Morning folks, Joe all that sure does sound like quite the "hunting" adventure.

Well as long as everyone had a safe weekend, that is really what matters.

Morning all,
Sounds like a great hunting trip Joe.
Safe travels Atch.
Alan, too bad the guy that built it never got to enjoy it. Looks NICE!
Mowing is done but there's a little weed eating that needs to be knocked out. Nothing happened on the replacement motors progress.
Got two VA appointments this week; Tuesday & Friday, as well as therapy on Wednesday.
Bought a 57¢ a pound turkey to fry for thanksgiving. Daughter hasn't bought Thanksgiving stuff yet. I now use a no oil fryer. If you've never tried one, you don't know what you're missing. No buying peanut oil, no possibility of fire and hardly any clean up after your done.

Well work work work, not bad inside the shop today, I did not even have to fire up the heater. Then I located a local place that has the start and run capacitors in stock. So after work I made a mad dash to town got them, put them on and "well crap"...nothing at all, so pretty sure it is NOT the capacitors.

I have good power to the plug, the stick welder fired right up. So I am taking the motor off and to a old school starter/alternator/motor rebuild guy, just outside of Humansville. I used him for a starter rebuild a long time ago. And I mean OLD school, like electricial wizard old school. So he should get it figured out fairly fast and I hope for cheap too.

Later gents.

Rolled in from Chicago a few minutes ago. Suitcases are in the house. Got everything brought in during a short break in the rain.

About 15 minutes before we arrived home we ran through quite a hailstorm. Tomorrow I'll have to look at the car to see if there is any damage. A friend called me while I was carrying suitcases and told me that the hail in downtown Columbia looked like it had snowed. While we were driving through the hail it was also raining cats and dogs and the clouds were at ground level. The cloud/fog/rain/hail was like driving through the proverbial pea soup. From Kingdom City to the Hatton exit the outer roads are closed due to I-70 construction but at Hatton we got off of the superslab. Then we took the outer road to our exit (Millersburg/Rt. J exit). Shortly after getting on the outer road the hail stopped and the cloud/fog lifted. It was smooth sailing after that with only rain.

Here we go with food again: we had brunch at the Blue Star Cafe in Gibson City, Illinois. Sherry had an omelet and 'taters. I had a skillet that had biscuits, gravy, hash browns, sausage, and 3 scrambled eggs with American cheese over all of it. We both ate half or less of what they brought us and reheated the remans for supper after we got home. I'm full to above my eyeballs. As soon as the tummy was full my next duty was/is to check FTE to see what's going on with you folks.

I'm going to sleep good tonight. I never sleep well when away from home and I got about 4 hours of sleep last night at the kids'/grandkid's house.

Tomorrow is the weekly car guys lunch, but I doubt I'll go.

Y'all get lots done and enjoy every minute of it.

Sounds like a pretty good place to eat. Anytime I ever got down near Alan's, I always went to the 'Throwed Roll' place. They had good chow & I couldn't even finish a chicken fried steak (small version)! I found a good chinese buffet here, but it's about an hour & a half away! We've got a big mac & a little combination grocery/sandwich shop. I don't know of a 'real' restaurant in town, I may have to go searching here later.
