November chat thread
Sunday was FUBAR from the start and stayed that way most of the day. When I finally had a moment to go downstairs to start in on the back panel of the cabinet, my jigsaw died halfway through. I grabbed the backup saw and remembered that it didn't cut perpendicular to the surface any more. So I wound up making a fast trip to HF for a new one and pitched the old ones. The first saw survived cutting up the air tanks to make the smoker and wasn't quite the same afterwards. The backup saw was dad's and he was hard on tools. I don't know what he did to his saws, but not one of the ones he had cut straight no matter how much you adjust them.
You all have a great day.
I made some progress on the tire lift yesterday. It usually takes me two days to assemble a ready built lift, wire it and plumb it. I'm betting it'll take me longer to design one, cut the pieces out, then assemble it and get it working. ...but I'm moving right along.
Just got back from Ford getting a service done before our trip to Chicago. Synthetic oil is almost $11.00 a quart. The truck takes 8 with a filter change. Glad I have a service contract. Still had to wait for 1 1/2 hours for them to complete the service. Think I'll be using their Valet service next time.
Rich I don't need anything powder coated at the minute, just thinking about future projects.
I stopped by the Therapy joint on my way back from the dealership and got an appointment for later this afternoon. I love it when a plan comes together.
It was 73° yesterday and may get to 70° today. Guess I better get my act together and mow here pretty soon.
2. Had a piece of apple pie as it was cooling down,
3. Had a piece of apple pie and a glass of milk for breakfast,
4. Just got home from driving the Model A to take sweetie to Bek's (restaurant in Fulton) for a scrumptious lunch and we brought home enough for supper tonight,
The last 24 hours or so have been about the best food I've had recently.
Visited Clarence at the body shop on the way home from lunch. Some demolition is taking place but until body man and insurance finalize some things not much is going to happen.
It sounds like all I've got to talk about lately is food and the Model A. If I had Clarence back I'd have more interesting things to talk about. It was running SO good the other day when BJ and I were on our way to Kentucky. For the last two years, ever since I got it back after the 5 year rebuild. I've been fighting various gremlins. It seems like those are all in the past now. Now I'm anxious to get back in it and drive the wheels off of it. The next thing on the schedule is a car show we go to in May in Oklahoma nearly every year. I'm hoping to put many miles on it between the time it comes home from the body shop and the OK show.
I'm hoping there will be an FTE gtg before May that we can take Clarence to. I don't care where in the state it is we'll try to be there. If not, I'll be seeing many of you at OMR in July.
Enjoy this warm weather while it lasts.

Have you ever had a Monte Cristo Sandwich? (Ham, Cheese, French Toast and powdered suger on top). Use Texas toast and swiss cheese. MMMMMMM

Note that I'm still PO'd at Ryan for this. I've seen quite a few F-1's that have wipers AND A/C. He just didn't want to fool with it.

What I would rather be doing.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
All this talk of FOOD and here I am eating cereal for breakfast.

Guess I gotta get it in gear today. Tomorrow we leave for the Windy City. We had another light frost last night but they're forecasting a hard freeze before I get back Tuesday evening.
Rich that looks a little rough on the ole equipment. Does everyone bring a trailer just in case?
RC, Have ya got your woodpile ready? Somewhere I read we're going to have a Cold winter this year. As previously stated I'm outta town this weekend but when your ready and feeling alright I'll come down and pick up those engines.
Joe, Same for you.
I got the gantry part of the crane done yesterday, but I wrenched my back bad when I was trying to put up one of the tracks and the ladder collapsed on me. (I was using two ladders. One to hold up the other end of the steel, and one to climb up. The one holding the other end of the steel collapsed) Anyway, I muscled through it with the help of modern chemistry. Today I need to get the trolley done. At some point I have to go BACK to OKC and pick up the water truck stuff. I'm going to try and use the warm days to work outside.
Rich thats quite a powder coater! You're exactly correct its all about the prep. I sand/sandblast to bare metal then use a good degreaser. But my neighbor powder coater just had hip surgery so hes MIA for a bit. So I have to spray the pump panels I'm working on now. Not my finest skill but I'll make it. Took Carletta to Jim's garage in Barnhart tuesday for some exhaust work. When I first got it running I just stuck the oem muffler on end of the exhaust out of the manifold and called it good. Now years later I don't like the way it hangs down and you can see it below the frame. They did some bending/re attached muffler and put a downward elbow off the back. Great prompt job at a fair price. They do lots of classics, hot rod exhaust. I recommend them. Somehow it even makes the truck quieter...don't get me wrong it's still lots of engine noise. My f150 has a coolant leak I need to investigate today. First have to take off half dozen plastic covers and 20 push pins to even see where it's leaking.
Take care youins!
