Someone left the deep freeze open last night and now it's mighty unpleasant outside. I've been out just long enough for Jesse to help me drop a branch that had to go so the gravel can be dropped where I want it.
I picked up a clamp-on saw guide at HF yesterday so I stand a better chance of making straight cuts on sheets of plywood. It made the job so much easier. I also dodged a bullet in the process. As I was setting the cutting depth on the circular saw, I noticed the blade was loose. Since the bolt was tight, I took it apart to see what the problem was. Apparently at some point the spacer on the shaft got flipped over and the flange that should have behind the blade was facing the motor. Upon inspection of the blade, it was loaded with stress fractures from lack of support. I shudder to think about the consequences If it had come apart while in use.
All the drawer pieces are cut out so now it's a matter of figuring out the dado cuts and seeing how it all fits.
Got all the drawer sections cut out now I just need to cobble up a makeshift router table so I can round off the tops of the drawers. After that, it'll be a lot of sanding before I can assemble them.
Morning folks....BBBRRRRR it is 19* here, so just a little chilly. Should make for a fun day at work. NOT! I hope the newly repaired heater works. Stay warm and as alwasy, remember them outside pets.
Morning all,
Of course I forgot to throw my scraper and snow brush in the truck. Woke up to this 10 November 2025 Lemont, IL
Wow cleaning chickens and single digit temps.
For you veterans there's all sorts of places offering meals for little to no cost tomorrow. I rarely take advantage of those offers but if you're so inclined. I think Great Clips even gives free hair cuts.
The kids are in school today up here so the dog and I are just lazing in the hotel. I was gonna take her on a long walk at one of the parks I used to walk her predecessors in but old man winter decided that wasn't happening. I brought warm cloths but forgot about my feet and I'm not thinking my sketchers will offer much protection from the snow and cold.
Yesterday I helped my SIL work on their HVAC. It would run for a few minutes and then shut off. He has this APP called ChatGP. You can send it pictures or ask it questions and it AI's you answers or possible things to check. Well after telling us to check probably 15 different things it said check the furnace air intake. Stink bugs clogging the HVAC intake
The APP costs $19 a month but if you use it in leu of a repair call it's well worth it.
I'm trying to get this trailer buttoned up, but finding simple parts is next to impossible. I need five 4" pulleys, and the only way to buy them over the counter around here is to buy a block and tackle and take the parts I need off of it. If I had a chunk of 4" round stock, I'd turn them down myself. I did manage to get the wheels and winch mounted on the trolley, then threw together a battery hold down and got the trolley slid in to the gantry. If I had a freakin' pulley, I could test out the tire lift. This is a dumb reason to not have something done.
Crazywheel, I'm sorry if I riled you up over the pictures in the builders guide. The article was about the show and I was disappointed over the size and quality of the pictures.
Thank you BJ. Yes I was riled up. Apology accepted, but only if you will accept my apology as well. I took it kinda personal as Paige the photographer is a friend of ours and I took your post as referring to her pictures rather than the magazine down sizing the pictures for their story. So I am sorry as well.
If I had a chunk of 4" round stock, I'd turn them down myself.
I might have a spare piece of 4" round stock in the "scrap iron" bin. I can look for you tomorrow, how long does it need to be?
Alan do you remember if there was any front windshield gaskets in that stuff I bought from you? I remember seeing some thing new in clear bags, but to cold to go diggin.

Happy Veteran's Day to all you veterans. You are the backbone of this country. Thank you.
Now off to go run, then leaf work. This afternoon my son and I will sight in our rifles for opening day this weekend.
Morning to all, at least the weather is getting nicer and the rain is pushed off until next week. I decided to go ahead and work today and take off early fri. I have to be in Greenfield anyway picking up my other older grand daughter, so I will check in with Earl then.
I'll be leaving at around 9:15 in the Model A for my annual Veterans Day gtg with three veteran friends who are car guys. There used to be 5 but Ed has left the building. This has been ongoing since 2012 and we go to the same Mexican restaurant in Jefferson City at 11:00 on 11/11 every year.
It's going to be a quite chilly ride in the unheated A. With going to Fulton, picking up Tom, going to JC and then retracing these steps it'll be about 100 miles round trip.
Y'all stay warm. At least warmer than I'll be today.
EDIT: it's up to 36* now at 9:00; "feels like" 26*.
Just rolled in from my Veterans Day lunch. It was pretty dadgummed chilly driving to JC early but very nice coming home. Total Model A mileage today was 88. I've put 1,410 miles on it since picking it up on August 1 of this year. Sure wish I could have been driving Clarence though.
On a Ford truck note, Bob drove his '29 Ford panel truck today from Washington, Mo. When his son was younger he had and drove a 305 winged sprint car. They detuned (somewhat) the 305 race motor and put it in the panel truck. Sure is a healthy runnin' panel truck. Undoubtedly the fastest vehicle Bob has had since he sold his '67 hemi GTX many years ago.
