15 tons of 1” clean gravel has been spread out on the driveway - most of it in the first few yards of the driveway between the road and where the trash dumpster sits. The rest went to fill some low spots further down the driveway, the curve that goes around behind the house, and a bit of the driveway after that.
Kudos to the guys who do that for a living. I just had a little bit to do and I’m beat.
Granddaughter's play had two performances; last night and this afternoon. Just got back to the kids' house and will stay in for the rest of the evening.
Sounds like most of you are doing well.
Yes, BJ, we ran the A/C most of the way up here yesterday.
Weatherfolks say we'll have the heater on all the way home Monday.
Dave is the dumpster/trash truck packing that 1" clean gravel in the ground all the time? If so, get some 3" and make a spot for the dumpster and the truck to drive in on. I put some 3" in a spot (under a carport area) that was alwasy wet/muddy. I have never had any issues since, but it is not the fun stuff to lay on that 3" and work on anything. I need to cover it with some 1" crush and run...some day.
Well this am the old compressor was fighting me all the way on the finial install. I adjusted the belt tension and no more belt jumping off. And then the elec motor capacitor smoked out. This thing is really trying my patiance, and after hitting my head on the 3/4 part of the shelf I left up...I got mad and tore the whole thing down. I hope the SIL has a spare that fits, and I hope it is JUST the capacitor that is the problem. When it smokes, it way hot to the touch and oil runs out, I believe that is the issue. I do not want to have to get a new motor.
At least I got the bottom door closure boards cut down so the doors closes nice and tight. Of course my old Dewalt 18V batteries are pretty much outdated and none seem to want to hold a charge anymore. But I managed with a Dewalt 20V sawzall and a pruning blade.
Took the grand daughter, for shopping for more school clothes and some new gym shoes. Then a fast lap at Wally world and True Value and then took the girls to dinner at Smith's.

Most likely that motor has a centrifugal switch on the tail end. It is closed when the motor is not spinning and opens immediately when starts spinning. This is the switch for the start capacitor, it only keeps the capacitor in the electrical circuit for a split second.
The contacts on this switch might be stuck closed keeping the capacitor in the circuit. Or it may have a a start relay that has failed and is keeping the start relay in the circuit. Either way fix/replace the switch or relay along with the capacitor
First time in 45 years that I've not got a Deer tag or gone Deer hunting. I can't walk past a window without looking in the field.
Looking out the shop window yesterday evening and this little guy is harassing a doe
When I walked into the kitchen this morning we had 5 does drinking out of a pond by the back door maybe 10' out . Neighbor boy 10 said two bucks were fighting in the street on his way to school last week made him late . Their becoming a problem eating all the flowers and shrubs .
Rich - that section of the driveway hasn't been properly flattened out and had gravel spread on it in many years. The round of gravel we had done last year never made it that far. I'm planning on having another load delivered on the 25th so I can tackle a few more places.
Blood sugars are wonky this morning so I'm off to a slow start.

Our fearless house hippo has been protecting us from all the dangerous deer in the yard from the safety of his perch in front of the window.

Mike thanks for the elec motor schooling, I will look for the switch you mention. I am also looking to get a new start capacitor as well as a run capacitor. SIL did not have a matching one. I do not want to have to get a new motor.
Trying to find a match to a
Mallory 108-130 MFD 220vac ( I believe I have to match the microfarads, so need a 108-130, but can step up the VAC to 250 or even more). Sound correct? Other #'s on the capacitor.
8792824 FC-4
235-9616-05
I am going to go pull the run capacitor and get those #'s also.

Morning all,
Rich I got mine from Chip. Maybe he'll chime in, in a bit.
It's cooler this morning.
Mowed a bit yesterday and after several side trips to NAPA I got the rods installed on the pistons and rings installed on the pistons for the Y Block I'm building to replace the one in the 56. The reason the pistons are not in the block is my typical day. The rod bolts were tightened too tight for me loosen by hand. So I got out my impact but the battery was dead. Charged the battery but with my bum hand I couldn't hold the rod to loosen the nuts. So I go to the house garage and get my vise, I know I've got 2 but the only one I knew where it was was in the house garage. Well it's too heavy for me to carry one handed so I decide I'll load it on the Zero Turn to haul it over to the shop. Well the battery's dead on the Zero Turn so I hook up the battery charger. After charging I get it running and get the vice over to the shop. Since I've got the Zero Turn out, might as well mow a bit. Next thing I know it's getting dark.
Maybe I'll get more done today.
I'm getting close to being in the bum wrist club myself. Years of doing dumb stuff and lots of injuries to it as a kid is catching up with me. I'm not sure how I ticked my left wrist off hauling gravel yesterday, but it got bad enough that I had to break out the wrist brace today. I had carpal tunnel surgery on the right wrist 25 years ago and the left was marginal then. I'll bring it up with the dr next time I see her.
Dave does your tractor have a speeder/spinner **** on the steering wheel? If you were making a ton of steering wheel inputs yesterday I am sure that might cause some wrist issues. They sell a clamp on steering wheel spinner **** at most farm and ranch stores and even TSC.
