Thanks! I'm getting mighty close to doing my swap. I'm resealing my leaky steering gear this weekend, I also have new 4x4 brake hoses that I'm picking up Friday now go ahead and order my new pitman arm. Not too much further to go!

Shaft ****!

Since I'm in need of some new tires anyway, when I get done with my 4x4 swap that will be on the higher end of the list. What size tires do you guys use on these trucks when they are stock height 4x4? I heard someone say 305s would rub on the stock springs. What do you guys recommend? I don't care to have anything giant I just want the truck to look like it's got big enough tires to support it. I imagine once he gets jacked up the tires I have are going to look puny. 16 inch rims by the way.

265-75r16 was largest stock size on 4x4 iirc. You can usually get away with 285-75r16 with stock springs no problem, stuffs the fenderwells a little more.

Great! 265-75r16 it is. I don't want to deal with any scrubbing. And I'm not trying to make my wheel bearings wear out super quick or anything. I just want the truck to look decent. My truck currently has 245-75 r16's on it. I think they would look a little small. Thank you for the information.

285/75R16 fit well in the wheel well with no scrubbing. Not sure about 305s

It won't even scrub the fender well? On a stock height truck? I don't want to have to mess with anything scrubbing but I want the biggest tires I can fit without worrying about anything. Thanks for the info! It's much appreciated!

hes right, as long as you keep stock offset wheels. I run 295's with x springs up front with no issues

Someone in another forum I was reading said 285 -75R16's would have to be ran at 60 psi or the out bit of the tread wouldn't act right on stock wheels because the tires are made for wider than 7 inch rims. What do you think of this?

While not ideal and pushing the envelope for stock width a bit, youll be fine.

Chalk test(or just drive from dirt/gravel to pavement and observe) and add maybe 5 psi on top of your findings for front if you do alot of twisty roads to keep shoulder wear at bay.
i settled on 55- front and 45 rear for my 295’s and wears pretty even with rotations . With the llight/medium towing i do on ovcasion the rear is fine for me, i dont have to air them up.

check this chart out for reference, LT tires start on pg23.
https://www.toyotires.com/media/3729...s_20200723.pdf

Theres a balance to be found between driving with tires at max psi & wearing the center out. and ride/wear depending on what you do with the vehicle. The psi on the door sticker is for max load and stability with that.

I prefer my sidewalls to protect the rims of my wheels so im ok with having slightly wider tires on stock wheels and have done so on many different trucks.

The price isn't that much different and I know it would look better. I found this set from Walmart. Not Walmart brand but a nice looking set for 800 bucks.

285/75/16’s are perfect IMHO. No rubbing at stock height.

The 265’s look too small to me...

I think the Cooper AT3 is the best tire out there for these trucks right now. I’ve put this size and brand tires on F250/350’s for years on many trucks. Everyone I’ve put them on for loves them. Most see +50k miles no problem.

I'll keep that in mind. I am going to go with 285's.
I'll figure it all out after the swap.
Those Cooper's do like like quite nice tires!

I finally found it! The source of my oil leak! On top of the drain plug leaking, I had some of you know I was planning on rebuilding my steering gear because it was leaking! Well I pulled it out and resealed it today, in the process, I found out, it wasn't my power steering that was leaking! It's my oil cooler tube! I had the steering gear off I could see it clear as day! So all that fluid that was down there was from the oil cooler not from the power steering gear. So I rebuilt my steering gear for nothing but, cleaned it really well, and now I don't have nothing to worry about anyway. I also got to learn how to reseal a steering gear and how they work! Where do you guys get your oil cooler seals?

You can also see the fuel line that is directly below the oil cooler at the quick connect, is dripping oil off of it because it's been leaking bad enough. My drain bolt might not even be leaking. It might be leaking down the pan from the oil cooler!
