Lafermedavid, do you remember if L&L gave you the choice of header reducer size? The headers come with reducers, but it doesn't say what size. I see they also sell different size reducers separately. I need 3".
Lafermedavid, thank you so much for those pics. The headers terminate as I hoped they would. Now I'm pretty sure I can build the exhaust system I want. I most likely could easily adapt the pipes I have in place now. But I'm gonna bump up from 2 1/4" to 3".
I'll be interested in seeing how you run your exhaust. I have mine basically in the factory setup for a 78 Bronco. It's y'd over on the passenger side and then it runs over the tranny crossmember, over the axle, and then out at the rear passenger corner by the bumper. 2 1/2" to the y then 3" in/out at the muffler and out to the tip. Whenever I go to some headers I want to route it the same, but 3" and dualed instead. There's not a ton of room to work with such a short wheelbase. I'm definitely leaving hp on the table though. I had it dyno'd, so I know where I could be if I free it up or at least closer to it. I doubt anyone ever gets the engine dyno numbers once the engine goes into the chassis and sees real world conditions.

I plan to run it exactly as I have it off the 400's Hooker long tubes now. Driver's side crossover right behind the oil pan. Driver and passenger pipes run parallel and above the transfer case crossmember, into a Magnaflow two in/two out stainless muffler. Two 90's off the muffler, exiting in front of passenger rear tire. The parallel portion will be a little tight, but doable. I may have to join them with a couple of welded on braces. I've got pics of the current setup when I first installed it. I'll look for them.
Lafermedavid, did your L&L flywheel & clutch kit come with the throwout bearing? Website doesn't show it pictured or listed with the kit. But it does show it listed as a separate item.
Well, I've got a lot of stuff on order now. I just got off the phone with Keith Fulp, and ordered a timing pointer. Before that, I called L&L and ordered headers, flywheel, clutch, and throwout bearing. He promised it'd ship NLT 13 May. And I ordered the 460 EFI Guys motor mounts three days ago. Theoretically, I could be mocking up old heads and headers to check header and motor mount clearance in two weeks. tic toc, tic toc.
The Lunati kit (minus the camshaft) should have been shipped three days ago. Since they're just up the road from me, I should see that package soon. Gotta get the spring kit to the cylinder head shop.
