Hey Rich, PU in Hartford, WI is in my hometown...they’re closed up. Not sure if they moved or not etc...but no longer in Hartford. Think it’s a Chinese restaurant or Mexican place now.
Not sure why they closed. They had nice stuff. The owner or co-owner worked on the original Bigfoot trucks if I remember correctly. The engine mounts they had I almost bought before I got mine from JBG but they where out of stock at the time.
The first set look like the ones L&L offers. I used the L&L's my first go with 460 and I think if you're doing any off roading then the offering from Jeff's is the way to go.
I used these from JBG when I put the 460 in my 77 Shortbox 4x4.
Don’t use the L&L mounts. Disaster waiting to happen! I’ve seen ones that have come a part. They might be ok for just a daily driver but like you said for any work/off-road type stuff or a engine that makes some power....no L&L for me.
I’ve had my 460 in my truck now for like 3 years. Stock 77 460 I pulled out of a 77 F350. I did the oil pan conversion kit from Ford racing, a new double roller timing chain and new oil pump. I figured I had to swap the pan anyways and the engine only had 99,500 miles on it and runs like a watch. I did put an aluminum intake on it.
I picked up another 460 this early spring. I already have a set of DOVE heads. I’m going to have Scotty the mad porter port my heads. I’ll have my local engine shop do the short block and do the final assy and dyno test it and break it in. Will be late fall early this winter to get it all done. Then during the winter I’ll pull and swap the motors.
The 460 the OP picked up should have a dual return Saginaw power steering pump. Nice bonus there as well.
I like those too. But If the perches have flexed over the years, and I'm sure mine have, it'll be hell getting those lined up.
But I've got a bigger problem right now. One of the lower motor mount bolts broke off during tear down. Didn't think much of it, seen that before. Then the damn extractor broke off in the bolt. I tried welding a nut to it a couple of times, but no good. I can stick and MIG pretty good, but my TIG skills aren't great. So I'm taking the block to a friend tomorrow. He's a pro, and can hopefully TIG weld and build the bolt up above the block surface so we can put a good weld on a nut.
What about using a quality Dremel bit to bore a hole in the middle of the broke bolt/extractor? Then use a QUALITY set of bits to step drill (one size up at a time) and drill it out.

Rich, that's the plan. Last night I used a tapered carbide bur and die grinder to clean it up a bit. I can see the extractor well now. I've got several carbide dremel burs and will slowly work them around the extractor until I can get it out. Then I'll probably set the block on my milling machine. The motor mount surface is perpendicular to the opposite cylinder deck, so It should be easy to square it up. Fun stuff for sure!
A long time ago I broke a cheap drill bit off in one (broke) exhaust manifold bolt, and then an cheap easy out off in the other one. I got them both removed and then all repaired and even left the motor and head in the truck during the repair. Persistence and now I own a QUALITY set of drill bits and easy outs. I got them from Fastenall, the Norseman brand are what I call quality. Yes crazy expensive, but I will NEVER drill with junk bits again.
I also welded the tap inside a 3/8 drive socket so I could get some force behind it during the re-tap process. Ended up only using one heli-coil, because one of my pilot holes was off. But the motor was still IN the truck.

Brother you just hit the biggest take-away here. I got impatient and bought an Irwin ease out at a hardware store. Dumbaxe! Irwin taps, drills, and bolt extractors are ok for light duty stuff, but not anything critical. I knew that, so it's all my fault. If Irwin put decals in the packages, I doubt I'd put one on the shop safe.
Over the years I have probably spent more time repairing stuff, due to using inferior (cheap) tools. Rather than using quality tools the 1st time around and saving me the repair time and cost. It's just like buying a cheap cam and drugs, just say NO.
My 2 take aways for the day. And I am quoting a wise old FTE member.

Back on thread track, keep up posted on the 460 swap in motor mounts you end up using.
Btw, all the Lunati parts, except the camshaft itself will be here this week. I was told that most of the camshaft blanks came from foundry in state next to a large lake that bears the same name, and those employees are riding the covid gravy train. It'll be at least a month before I get the camshaft. I'll probably still be pecking away at the motor mount bolt when it arrives.

Wise words. I'm usually a stickler about tooling. Especially in the gun shop. Nobody to blame but yourself when you learn a lesson the hard way,....more than once.
