This afternoon I finished gapping the rings, then checked piston skirt to bore clearances. I'm impressed with the machine work, and the pistons. I cross checked every ring in every bore, and they all gapped the same. That's impressive! And every piston skirt mic'd the same. I only zero'd my dial bore gauge one time! Every bore mic'd at .003" skirt clearance, which is dead on minimum as stated by piston manufacturer.
And last night I learned a valuable lesson that some of you may find useful in the future. When a factory 460 crankshaft falls over on your flip-flop clad foot, it will almost certainly inflict painful injury. Odd bit of trivia, but at least now it's no longer a myth.
Purity of intention and attention to detail is the name of the game here brother I give you a 10 on the motor but dressing for the job at hand not so much;
For upping your game on dressing for the job at hand I recommend Redwing steel toe boots. I know this a horse is already
out of the barn scenario but I'm hoping this picture will come to mind next time you go to put on flip flops to work on your Truck.
Nice boots. I miss my old Redwings and LL Beans. Bean's are now made in some chinese sewer. I've got an old torn up pair of Redwing Iron Ranger's somewhere. Had them resoled three times before they finally wore out. I should get another pair and begin the long break-in process.
This sounds like made up humor but it's not...I'm pretty sure something in my foot is broken. It's black & blue, and swollen, but I can barely feel it because of a prior injury. I broke the foot back in '92, and had surgery on it. They removed a big nerve that went from the top of the foot, down through toe's # 3 & 4. Never a normal day. I really do love my life!
How would you like your doc to guess about you needing heart surgery, yes you should not play guess doc. You know hospitals have a cool thing called an xray (to at least confirm your none feeling foot is broke). And then you can ask for a steel tow wooden shoe to gimp around in.
Yeah, I know where my doctor's office is. I avoid that part of town as much as possible. This is karma now that I think about it. My lady friend that was in on the snake catching thing is wearing a japanese jump boot because she broke her ankle last week while on her mower. She's a disaster with anything that has a moving part. Anyway, I was picking on her about it and look what happened. Hopefully I can conceal this from her.
And it's karma for another reason. Because of Scrappy's attention to detail, flip-flops are reserved for inside the house only. She knows if I take of the flip-flops and put on boots, I'm leaving the house. Just one more reason not to wear flip-flops in the shop.
Get that foot looked after. My brother-in-law's mom had her foot amputated last year because she had no feeling there, so she would injure herself, then walk around on the fresh injury "because it doesn't hurt". Last I heard, they are about to take the other one for similar reasons...

OK, I'll go to the dang doctor's office tomorrow while I'm in town! Hanging around with you guys is like being married.
