We finally have short block status. And a few goodies got delivered over the last couple of days. Scrappy QC'd everything. No issues with most of it. We were both pleased that the Trick Flow head stud kit was actually manufactured by ARP, and comes with intake manifold fasteners. When we opened the valve cover box, Scrappy immediately noticed that they are identical to Holley's, and the ones you see on ebay. Holley just charges $58 more for the privilege of advertising for them.
Lookin good, man. I wish I could fit some larger valve covers like that on my truck, but they don't exactly fit with my giant factory A/C box.
Also like that blue, looks nice and crisp if that makes sense. lol. I've been doing other colors on my engines just to mix things up, but you can't go wrong with a nice Ford blue.

Thanks, Doosenberry. I was teetering to and fro on color choices. I almost went with Ford Red, but decided on Old Ford Blue, then realized I was spraying Dark Ford Blue when I was half done. What a Goofus!
Yeah, that big dentside A/C box is a monster. My truck doesn't have A/C , but I remember dealing with it on our dentside trucks and Bronco's. It made spark plug changes a special event! Rocker arms should arrive tomorrow. I'll do some mock up to make sure the valve cover baffles clear the rocker arms. And I need to order breathers for the valve covers, so I can check baffle clearance on them too. I may have to alter the baffles. I like that those baffles are welded in, instead of like other aftermarket valve covers, which use four tiny self thread screws. Can you imagine what could happen when one of those screws falls?!?!?!
I mocked up for valve / piston clearance check. Got checker springs installed on #1 exhaust & intake valves, set of lifters installed so I could watch for events, and of course the degree wheel so I'd know exactly where the piston was at. I won't know the exact numbers until I've got rockers and pushrods installed, but this told me I've got more than enough clearance.
Btw, I'm worried about the labels on these cylinder heads. They plainly say, "DO NOT REMOVE". Do you think there's a hole behind the label. I don't mind leaving the label on, but I can't believe it'll hold up long. I'd hate to spring a leak! I wonder what kinda leak it'll be...Exhaust? Intake? Oil? Coolant? I need my shop support kitty.
I couldn't imagine they'd block a hole with a sticker. Not a hole with any importance anyway. Maybe the do not remove is meant for the people at Trick Flow or people selling them. Kinda like the tags on a mattress or whatever.

Surely you knew I was being humorous.....? Do I get the smartaxe award, or do you the goofus award? Both probably.
LOL ! You fellas out did yourself here Just remember sleep is important and breakfast is the most important meal of the day and for Christ sake where your steel toe boots whenever working on your Dent
