ATOTO Android Head Unit Project...

As I mentioned earlier, a PC will usually default to NTFS file protocol when formatting a storage device or media. FAT32 file protocol can be selected, but that is not the norm, this applies to the "quick format" option as well.
In addition, third party software is sometimes required to format large capacity microSD cards to FAT32. Using the app to format the microSD sets the file protocol to exactly what the application is looking for and designed to utilize.
Easy fix and on a Friday even!
First mod will be installing an android unit I picked up during Prime day, as well as getting Forscan up and running to check it out. I want to replace the headunit more for streaming music than anything else and have wanted to play with the android headunits for a long while. Forscan, navigation, camera, all the other stuff is just a nice bonus. Honestly I was expecting to have to replace the speakers before I could do any music listening.
Might be another week or two as I'm approaching semester finals, but ready to get working on this stuff and will be browsing the thread again to refresh my memory on a lot of what has been discussed.
Take your time with it, have fun with it. We will be here for questions, advice, praise and shouts of congratulations when you need it.
I just finished a 5,500 mile trip using live Google Maps, what a great way to travel with navigation in my opinion.
Connected to the Atoto & it powers up, connected to WiFi & my phone easily but I have a problem.....no sound, I've double checked everything & at one point when wriggling the connector in the back of the Atoto the speakers did come on for a minute or so, but as soon as I moved the unit the sound went off & I haven't been able to repeat this. It would seem I've got a faulty unit.
I've emailed myatoto support & waiting for a reply, I did try to register on myatoto but it wouldn't accept the verification code....
Frustrating but I'm sure I'll get there......
I had a quick play with maps & a look around stuff, there's alot to take in!
Your wire colors were different? The colors from the ATOTO or from the OEM harness?
Is the display on constantly or was it wigging out as well as the audio?
Is the mute button stuck or something simple?
Have you tried a different audio source, like the FM radio, USB MP3, etc?
Is the volume up? Just asking...
I believe there are volume settings, did you check those?
Is there any static or anything coming out of the speakers when messing with the wires?
Do you have an amplifier or just the ATOTO to power the speakers?
ATOTO service was very helpful for me as you may have seen several posts up. They were usually within 12 - 24 hours for a response. I don't think I registered my head unit either, just provide them with your order date and the number from Amazon or wherever you bought it from. That should be sufficient to get some assistance.
I really like the head unit and having the wireless charging pad for my Samsung S7 makes using the hotspot very easy. 5,500 miles of using live Google Maps while towing the 5th wheel was great!

Sous, are you using android auto or hotspoting to your head unit? I'm not super impressed with android auto and may try some other options.
Thanks!
I run a WiFi hotspot on my phone and then connect the ATOTO A6 Pro to the phone hotspot. The phone sits on a wireless charger in the cubby to the right of the steering wheel.
I used the Atoto loom, with solder splice heat shrink terminals, I couldn't find a plug & play adapter at the time I was looking for one. I've fitted dozens of head units over the years & I'm absolutely confident of my abilities with automotive electrics.
I'm 100% sure that the fault lies within the case, by process of elimination & the common denominator.

The colours in the Ford harness are different to any of the diagrams I have or those that were shared/linked by other members. But I just used a meter to trace them
Is the display on constantly or was it wigging out as well as the audio?
The display is constant
Is the mute button stuck or something simple?
Tried all the obvious things
Have you tried a different audio source, like the FM radio, USB MP3, etc?
It's the same with all sources, when using Bluetooth audio the display has a graphic of the sound (like an oscilloscope) but nothing from the speakers
Is the volume up? Just asking...
Even I'm not that daft

I believe there are volume settings, did you check those?
Yeah, I found all the sound controls, there's hard buttons on the S8 Ultra & a hard button for mute
Is there any static or anything coming out of the speakers when messing with the wires?
Nothing, nada, zilch, just full sound when it happens (I was only able to get this twice, for a few minutes at a time)
Do you have an amplifier or just the ATOTO to power the speakers?
No, just straight to the factory speaker (they may well get changed in the future, but I still have the originals in the 350, my days of cranking stuff out with the volume on 11 are done lol!)

I have sent them an email, I contacted the seller but he no longer deals with ATOTO, apparently Brexit made it less viable from a business perspective. Their customer service has good reviews so fingers crossed...

I'm so looking forward to doing the same! I'm still waiting for the registration process to complete.....
If you are not already, try using "support@myATOTO.com" for your correspondence to them.
Also, you may be out of the free return period from Amazon if that is where you purchased it, but it is worth a shot looking into.
Good luck to you sir!
