Hey guys. Sorry for the long get-back, and I'll still need a little more time. I'm hoping to have my Excursion back together today, and will hook up the batteries and format the card from the app to see if it resolves the issues when I do.

Reformatting through the app did the trick. I'm not sure why the app would save stills and not videos with it formatted from my PC, but formatting in the app immediately enabled the camera to start recording.

Outstanding news sir!

As I mentioned earlier, a PC will usually default to NTFS file protocol when formatting a storage device or media. FAT32 file protocol can be selected, but that is not the norm, this applies to the "quick format" option as well.

In addition, third party software is sometimes required to format large capacity microSD cards to FAT32. Using the app to format the microSD sets the file protocol to exactly what the application is looking for and designed to utilize.

Easy fix and on a Friday even!

Well after three weeks+ of talking about it, I finally actually have my truck. I was pleasantly surprised that the factory sound system is better than expected. I've ridden around with dad in this thing on and off since around 2006. In that time I never really heard the radio and assumed that the speakers were shot. I'm not going to say that the factory speakers are great, but they work! The radio does too!

First mod will be installing an android unit I picked up during Prime day, as well as getting Forscan up and running to check it out. I want to replace the headunit more for streaming music than anything else and have wanted to play with the android headunits for a long while. Forscan, navigation, camera, all the other stuff is just a nice bonus. Honestly I was expecting to have to replace the speakers before I could do any music listening.

Might be another week or two as I'm approaching semester finals, but ready to get working on this stuff and will be browsing the thread again to refresh my memory on a lot of what has been discussed.

Josh, good to hear things are progressing nicely for you.

Take your time with it, have fun with it. We will be here for questions, advice, praise and shouts of congratulations when you need it.

I just finished a 5,500 mile trip using live Google Maps, what a great way to travel with navigation in my opinion.

Finally got around to finishing the wiring on the Fontaine truck, mounted the switch for the powerfold mirrors, ran all the extra wiring through the rubber bellows & behind the dash, all nice and tidy. Traced the speaker wiring from each speaker, for some reason my wiring colours don't match anything I could find but no problem, it's all done now.
Connected to the Atoto & it powers up, connected to WiFi & my phone easily but I have a problem.....no sound, I've double checked everything & at one point when wriggling the connector in the back of the Atoto the speakers did come on for a minute or so, but as soon as I moved the unit the sound went off & I haven't been able to repeat this. It would seem I've got a faulty unit.
I've emailed myatoto support & waiting for a reply, I did try to register on myatoto but it wouldn't accept the verification code....
Frustrating but I'm sure I'll get there......
I had a quick play with maps & a look around stuff, there's alot to take in!

Rob, that is frustrating... Do you suspect the fault is internal to the case or a wire/connector? Did you use a Metra kit in order to retain the factory harness?

Your wire colors were different? The colors from the ATOTO or from the OEM harness?

Is the display on constantly or was it wigging out as well as the audio?

Is the mute button stuck or something simple?

Have you tried a different audio source, like the FM radio, USB MP3, etc?

Is the volume up? Just asking...

I believe there are volume settings, did you check those?

Is there any static or anything coming out of the speakers when messing with the wires?

Do you have an amplifier or just the ATOTO to power the speakers?

ATOTO service was very helpful for me as you may have seen several posts up. They were usually within 12 - 24 hours for a response. I don't think I registered my head unit either, just provide them with your order date and the number from Amazon or wherever you bought it from. That should be sufficient to get some assistance.

I really like the head unit and having the wireless charging pad for my Samsung S7 makes using the hotspot very easy. 5,500 miles of using live Google Maps while towing the 5th wheel was great!

Recently installed a ATOTO S8 to replace a Kenwood touchscreen I wasn't very happy with. New one is a vast improvement in pretty much every way.

Sous, are you using android auto or hotspoting to your head unit? I'm not super impressed with android auto and may try some other options.

Thanks!

Hey kbeefy, I am not using Android Auto, I don't like it...

I run a WiFi hotspot on my phone and then connect the ATOTO A6 Pro to the phone hotspot. The phone sits on a wireless charger in the cubby to the right of the steering wheel.

I used the Atoto loom, with solder splice heat shrink terminals, I couldn't find a plug & play adapter at the time I was looking for one. I've fitted dozens of head units over the years & I'm absolutely confident of my abilities with automotive electrics.
I'm 100% sure that the fault lies within the case, by process of elimination & the common denominator.

Your wire colors were different? The colors from the ATOTO or from the OEM harness?

The colours in the Ford harness are different to any of the diagrams I have or those that were shared/linked by other members. But I just used a meter to trace them

Is the display on constantly or was it wigging out as well as the audio?

The display is constant

Is the mute button stuck or something simple?

Tried all the obvious things

Have you tried a different audio source, like the FM radio, USB MP3, etc?

It's the same with all sources, when using Bluetooth audio the display has a graphic of the sound (like an oscilloscope) but nothing from the speakers

Is the volume up? Just asking...

Even I'm not that daft

I believe there are volume settings, did you check those?

Yeah, I found all the sound controls, there's hard buttons on the S8 Ultra & a hard button for mute

Is there any static or anything coming out of the speakers when messing with the wires?

Nothing, nada, zilch, just full sound when it happens (I was only able to get this twice, for a few minutes at a time)

Do you have an amplifier or just the ATOTO to power the speakers?

No, just straight to the factory speaker (they may well get changed in the future, but I still have the originals in the 350, my days of cranking stuff out with the volume on 11 are done lol!)

ATOTO service was very helpful for me as you may have seen several posts up. They were usually within 12 - 24 hours for a response. I don't think I registered my head unit either, just provide them with your order date and the number from Amazon or wherever you bought it from. That should be sufficient to get some assistance.

I have sent them an email, I contacted the seller but he no longer deals with ATOTO, apparently Brexit made it less viable from a business perspective. Their customer service has good reviews so fingers crossed...

I really like the head unit and having the wireless charging pad for my Samsung S7 makes using the hotspot very easy. 5,500 miles of using live Google Maps while towing the 5th wheel was great!

I'm so looking forward to doing the same! I'm still waiting for the registration process to complete.....

Rob, I am hopeful ATOTO will take care of you.

If you are not already, try using "support@myATOTO.com" for your correspondence to them.

Also, you may be out of the free return period from Amazon if that is where you purchased it, but it is worth a shot looking into.

Good luck to you sir!

Atoto have sent me a polite reply asking for more detail & they will create a "myatoto" account for me if I'm still unable to get past the verification code, I'm going to do a video & send it to them. They seem to have good customer service so far. I'll update things as they happen.

Can you get speakers to make noise using a 9v battery or similar to ‘ring out’ your wiring through the ATOTO pigtail?

They worked fine with the OEM unit & did work for a minute when I wriggled the connector that plugs into the back of the Atoto. I'm going to take the Atoto round to my buddy who's business is in car entertainment, he'll have a test setup that we can plug it into. One speaker not working would indicate either the speaker or the wiring, but all four has to be something in the head unit, it's the only common denominator.....
