The thing is, I don't think the CAC pipes are raw. I believe them to be aluminized, like an exhaust pipe.
I agree. It seemed like aluminized to me as well. So I went the easy no paint route.
I believe Sous likes things a bit shinier though so the paint probably looks better. I figured on my truck it would only look better briefly so skipped it.

OK and agreed... I didn't care for the silver, metal look that in my opinion looked raw like an exhaust pipe. I intentionally used the word "metal" instead of attempting to identify the make up of the CAC pipe. I also chose the word "raw" because they seemed unfinished to me. They would be 100% functional, but I wanted them to look good too. Even if they spend 99% of their life in darkness under the hood. Even if I had bought the IRD kit like SSJ posted above, I would have painted those too. The only way I might not have painted them is if they were polished, but I don't really care for that look anyway.
I don't know what the pipes are made of, I don't act like I know. I did NOT like the silver, dark silver or whatever you call it look and since I had already painted the passenger side CAC tube satin black, I thought why not paint the CSD driver side CAC pipe. I also painted the intake pipe, up-pipes and down pipe and don't know what they are made of either. I just know that they didn't look the way I wanted them to and since I paid for the kit, I thought I would do what I wanted to it.
I am more of a form-follows-function guy but I do like a pretty engine bay.
That was and still is my thing, mechanically 100% first then all the appealing stuff later, just don't make it a habit like me 8 years and my obs still needs body work and a paint job
So Parking lots on the East side, and drivers on the West side on i10?
I swear I could turn on my wipers and the overspray of washer fluid would cause the entire Westbound lanes to lock em up thinking it was a raindrop. Oh look, someone changing a flat, let's come to a stop and watch the entire process.

so true, desert people panic when there's a 10% chance or rain.
I wanna say it was 02 when it snowed about 1" in EP/CJ? I've never seen such a shipstorm from drivers. Looked like demolition derby on i10, the right shoulder was lined with banged up cars from down town to NM state line. So glad to be out of that daily drive
In 08 or 09 it froze so bad, all of the stores ran out of plumbing, cars were left in the middle of I-10 and temps went down to IIRC -10. We are not equiped for this kind of weather. To top it off dumb drivers going 65+ miles on black ice
