Interesting to see that the powder coating had slipped on the pipe. A bunch had filled up the bead roll indent and I could actually see where the coating was extended past the end of the pipe. Spider side Intercooler side.
Cleaned it all off from the clamp location and then finished it off with an 80grit to scarify the surface hoping for a better bite with the boots. Going to reassemble with hairspray as well.
Before the final 80grit “BUFF”
Ready to go back together.
Going to hold off on the welding. He seemed quite reluctant because of possibly burning the powder coating.
Sucks that the pretty blue coating slides on the pipe. Maybe that one was not cured properly.
I’ve sent in a warranty request to Sinister to see what they say. Only showed them pictures of the failure. Nothing about removing the coating and prep.

I will be sure to post up their response.
I just got off the phone with Sinister Diesel.
They were extremely surprised to see the pictures that I had sent. He went back to the production department and showed them the failure mode. He hasn't had a chance to talk with the powder coating technician yet.
They are replacing the Pipe, Both hot side boots, and all 4 clamps. They are producing a new pipe for me and will be taping off the boot locations so the boot is onto the stainless pipe instead of the powdercoating.
