Happy birthday to me…

Fuel pressure gauge has arrived, and waiting on the KC 360° and 300x turbine wheel that I will pair with my wicked wheel.

I don’t expect to get to this right away, winter project.

Permission from CFO was granted and anybody who works in the corporate world knows that when it comes to budgets… if you don’t use it you lose it.

On the CFO front, I raise you exceed-budget-and-show-cost-effeciveness/increased-revenue-to-increase-next-budget.

So reading between dashes means spend more than allotted, however justify excess spending by showing power increase = less throttle input required to achieve same task= cost saving in fuel amortized over trips = well worth the extra cost for overall gains.

Sums it up nicely I think.

However I think that the 300x turbine wheel will put me where I want to be for the turbo. All the reviews I’ve read say 100-150 rpm lower for the spool up. So far I’m really happy with my current set up but do find myself tipping in a little deep on the skinny pedal for some of the hills I’m climbing. Only one in particular where I can’t maintain my 60mph.

Not sure how it will pair with a WW, but you'll like it on a 4+4 or 5+5

Second gen wicked wheel is a 5+5 so there is that.

I read your review on KC’s site. Nicely done.

Bottom line… guess I’m gonna find out how well they pair. It will be spring before I can really get a good loaded test on it though. Trailer is getting winterized next weekend.

In years past, a lot of tuners made a lot of money on this precept... by simply modifying the mass fuel desired for a given voltage response from the accelerator position sensor.

This provided the customer with the physical foot sensation of less throttle input required to pull harder and/or go faster.

This did not, however, mean that less fuel was being consumed.

The true value of a throttle input is in the ability to regulate reliably at part throttle performance requirements. The true test of a good tune is in how it performs at part throttle, not maximum effort.

Compressing the voltage response range of an accelerator position sensor in order to fool consumers into believing that less throttle input is needed to achieve the same amount of work has always been a turn off.

This post is not intended to imply that anyone on this forum is being fooled. It is just a response to the sentence quoted, which provoked the aggravation just explained.

As the operator of a manual transmission, this ‘aggravation’ was enough to make me not like driving my truck. The concept of ‘fooling’ me was significantly more than annoying... I find the amount of travel FORD came up with for the accelerator pedal was adequate. Mucking with that in an attempt to make me think my truck is ‘more powerful’ is a solid insult to even my limited intelligence.

This was the case with a crappy Hypertech tuner I was given close to the start of this thread.

It’s now someone else’s problem when I sold it for $100.00.

Love my Hydra with SDK tunes.

All of the ‘programmers’ like that do this stupid trick. Many times I’d get in a truck for test drive and moving through the parking lot I’d say ‘got a tune in here, huh?’. Proud owners are like ‘YEAH BABY, how did you know?’ and I’d explain how they had been fooled...

I don't remember seeing this thread. Just dropped in on a recent referral by the OP, and was blown away.

Pardon this pit stop at the fire hydrant to subscribe, but there is some Tech Folder Fodder in this thread that needs to be linked.
