I just learned maybe I am slow that there is a fordpass and a ford remote access app. I thought they where the same. Is there any reason one can't have one or the other? Fordpass website si ply says you need sync 3. I would assume with remote access it would be possible.
Only reason I ask is it would be cool to have the car location by gps of the pass app.

Ford Pass and Remote Access are both two completely different things.
Ford Pass is only available on certain vehicles, and only if the option was built into the vehicle at production. If your vehicle was not Ford Pass compatible equipped from production, you cannot add the hardware to make it work.
On the other hand, Remote Access is not at all available as a production option. It is only available as an add-on later. This is the option to use for vehicles that do not come equipped with Ford Pass capability.
Usually after 3 days or so of the vehicle not being started, the RMU module will go into low power mode.
You can go into the settings and schedule a wake-up date. This is useful if you're say doing long-term parking and will want to remote start the truck when you get back (ie. airport parking).

I should almost start selling the remote security model to you mericans as it's $130 CAD here which works out to roughly $100 USD. Online it also states on fords website $31 install.

Where did you see $31 for install? I am trying to find that and I don't see it.

I don't think Ford can dictate the dealer installation price. Maybe that was from a dealer's website?
I recently had the Perimiter+ Remote (cell phone) access done as part of my purchase. Only two part numbers are needed and a very easy install that can be done yourself in under 30min (likely 10min). This thread gives a fairly good sense of what it takes to install... the hardest part is wire-tying the RMU and the VSS under your dash (a bit tight for big folks like me, but still very doable). Just make sure you purchase from a dealer who will activate the SIM for you.
My unit is accessible to change the sensitivity by pulling the dash side plate when the driver door is open. In my case they also installed the Long Distance Remote Start & Antennae (which I didn't want or need) that connects to this unit. I have already unplugged and removed the antennae since I will never use it (redundant option since my FOB already has remote start and can do on the cell phone). I also want to put a dash cam in the spot they mounted the antennae so off it came. Still need to pull the (now not being used) antennae wire out of the headliner, but its not an issue for now - out of site, out of mind.

My dealer has never done one before and they are telling me its 2 hours labour at $124/hour. I've seen on some american sites the dealer has a special right now for the 2 parts and install for $399.
