So smartlink is now coming out this "summer" so I guess if you wanted to perform the aforementioned upgrade you are SOL because the module you need is discontinued, and Smartlink is still not out...

For what it's worth, I talked to Kevin at Fairway this morning and with what he's seeing about the future of SmartLink, it was his recommendation to try and use the discontinued Remote Access modules if you can find it. You can still buy the security pack from Fairway, then you'll need to find the cellular module. Either way I think I may go this route, Ford has stated it will continue to support the Remote Access subscription system for years to come and it's tried and tested.
Sorry if this has been covered, I did a search and couldn't find it. I installed the VSS and the RMU, and when I plugged in the VSS, the running board retracted back up under the truck. I then turned on the key to learn the vehicle and then back off. Now, my running boards will not extend when I open the door. It has essentially disabled the running boards.
Also, is there another dealer that knows how to enable the sim and provide a pin? My attempts at getting Bobby from Banner on the phone have been unsuccessful.
The truck is a 2017 F250 Platinum. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

While I can't offer much in the first half of your question, another option would be Kevin at Fairway Ford in Ohio. The downside though is he isn't in until Monday. So far I haven't found anyone available on a Saturday to activate the systems so I'm postponing installing the parts until Monday.

As Noreaster posted above, try Kevin at Fairway Ford in Canfield, Ohio.
I've done 2 of these. First one was through Bobby at Banner. 2nd time I bought modules from a couple of different places. Had a heck of a time trying to get through to anyone at Banner. I contacted Fairway and was done in about 5 minutes after talking to Kevin.
Thanks guys. I was able to get my dealer to do it after I gave them the instructions that Pocket posted in an earlier thread. Now if I could get my running boards working
Went back and checked my settings for the running boards and they were set to "Off". It changed from "Auto" to "Off" when I plugged in the VSS. Thanks for the help guys
Slapped this system into my '17 today, activated by Kevin at Fairway Ford in under 5 minutes. It's awesome and now I have "local" remote start on my factory key-fob, and then "remote" lock/unlock/start/stop on my phone from anywhere. Plus, I now have the shock sensor which will send an alert to my phone from anywhere. Very cool stuff.
