For as much work as you do, money would be well spent on a compressor. It makes things go so much faster and requires a LOT less effort. I'd definitely get one before doing the F150.
At least the body guy knew what he was talking about. You definitely need to fix that before it loads with salt and grime. Rust really is the cancer of the automotive world... and living up north is like living in between a nuclear power plant and uranium refinery....
Holy lord jesus is right. For that kinda price, that bumper better come with a steak and hand job...
I know, i had thought about trying to find a good used one like you did. My grandfather has one but its not rated for the powerful air-tools like the air chisels and some impact guns and it needs to start pumping if you use it for more than 3 seconds lol.
Yeah i am going to have him spray some POR15 all in there because he did that for his buddy when his cab corners went on his 03 F350 so ill do that then spray some fluid film all up in there after its fixed. Good news for him is the bed can be taken off to give him plenty of space to work now lol
Yeah for that price it better come with lots of things lol.
Yeah i love New England but hate it at the same time, i like winter but hate salt lol. Once i get this fixed though that like all the bad rust on the truck except the bottoms of the doors which i somewhat tamed for a few years but its starting again so i will probably try the pour the POR in and drill a few drain holed trick so water doesn't settle.
I wouldn't commit to a huge one until you have your own place. Its too freaking big and too damn heavy to keep moving around. If you can find a good price on an old one, its worth while. The build quality is unmatched.
Cool thanks! that's not bad (the smaller one) i agree and wouldn't get a large one yet, my Fiance's dad has a massive one i could always use but its at his shop 10 miles away so i don't have a 10 mile long hose to run to my house lol.
Yeah I'm hoping it makes the repair go faster and when he gets the truck i am going o have him remove and paint the flares to match the black at the same time since he will have the paint handy to repaint the two tone part.

If I ever need a bigger one, I am just going to buy a new motor and a new pump. My tank should last for all eternity lol.
Do you NEED a front plate? In NJ I have to have it by law but I haven't had one in almost 18 months and I've never been pulled over for it. It might just be something that you hang on to but don't put on unless you get nailed for it, which at least here isn't a big fine

That's what it's like around here we "Need" one but many people don't run one. I could get away with the i ordered the mount but it still did not come in excuse a few times i bet but not every time lol. I'm not too worried about it though.
For the record, discussing this stuff is way more interesting than my job...
Of course it is lol I'm at work to!
BTW i spoke with my dad and he gave me the ok to use the garage but challenged me to make the truck fit lol. It's 87" tall and the garage opening is 83" i figured if i air down the tires a ton or get some used rims with no tires and just drop it really low lol.
Edit: I should add that the truck is really 85" tall but i added 2" because its better to overestimate with the cab lights than not to lol.
You have the rear suspension apart. Put the leaf springs on the truck with no rear shackle. just let the end of the springs look and rest on the shackle bracket or let the axle down to the bump stop on the frame. That should help quite a bit.

Then air down the front tires.
Oh that's a good idea for the back! I was going to install the springs with no blocks and the bolts barley on to get her rolling then hook up the tank again briefly and set it on the frame to get her started and moving.
If you have the F150 running, I'd just use that to pull and push the SD into place. You don't have any bumpers on it at the moment.
If you still run into clearance issues in the front with the garage, maybe some 10000# ratchet straps could help you load the front suspension to get it through the door. Ratche between the frame and the axle tubes.
Sounds like my truck too. I had to put a set of stock tires on and air them down to about 10 psi and take off the light bar just to scrape the roof on the way into my barn. Stupid previous owner built a 30x40 with 8 foot sidewalls.
Yeah i have a small two car garage and the truck cleared by 1/8" before the lift lol. Not a bad idea Jeremy i will get it in i will re arrange the garage this weekend and get her in there. I will probably use the F150 because i want to drive it lol.
Plain an Simple finished my lights i cant wait to get them back and installed!

Yeah i love the way they came out i think the square projector fits nicely with the whole theme of the headlights. He did it really fast too it took him a week with SEMA going on in between when he got them and finished.
