I got my driveshaft bolts out last night but are there more than just the 4 outer bolts that hold it to the Tcase and Axle? I tried wacking it with a rubber mallet because it's all i had at the time and it didn't even budge a little from the axle side. The springs and shocks are unbolted so the axle is free to move back and forth so i figured it has plenty of play to come loose.

Also took this picture this morning before i left for work this morning while the Expy warmed up and i was staring at the truck thinking of things to do lol. The hood should be in tomorrow i got it shipped to my work since they have a dock and i didn;t want the UPS guy to hate me since he delivered my rear springs last and had to get help from my dad to get them out of the truck while i wasn't home lol.

Also i was talking with one of the guys at work yesterday and my buddy at school who knows about Allison's and i think i am going to shoot for the 500hp range and to me that's realistically 450-550hp.

My buddy and i were talking about the tranny and to get it to hold 500hp it doesnt need much just a shift kit but realistically it would be worth the money to invest in a rebuild kit meant to hold more so after talking for a little while i decided to go with the PPE Stage 4 kit for the tranny which builds it to hold 850hp but when you read thier site it says 850hp at the crank and 680rwhp and and 1500ftlbs which will leave it in a good position so that it will never limp or slip causing issues and another rebuild required soon. Below is my parts list that i have come up with, the brace prevents Tcase and tail housing damage from stress of high torque and the rebuild kit i am not set in stone which one becasue the one without the TC is significantly cheaper and my buddy said there might be a cheaper better converter out there for it he just couldn't remember at the time so he is going to look it up for me. I would be in this transmission for way more than i will ever use and the entire cost for the conversion is going to be about $2445-3745(w/ TC) to have a bullet proof Allison and stand alone controller to run in behind the 12v without any issues.

Allison List:
-PPE Stage 4 Rebuild Kit w/ TC ($2600) ($300 Core)
-w/o TC ($1300) ($300 Core)
-PPE TCase Brace ($150)
-Destroked Stand Alone Controller ($1500)

Now the 12v...lol, here i am also going to spend some extra money to help bullet proof the motor from damage by building it above what i anticipate. I am going to build the block and then add my water/meth injection i had originally planned and twins as well as a P-Pump conversion on the my motor. I was talking with the guy at work here and he said that the 92 engine likely has the same head as the 2nd gen trucks which means i can simply get 2nd gen injectors the pump and time gears and run new injector lines and call it a day. The P-Pump conversion alone will allow me to make some serious power without needing many addons other than the turbos and water/meth injection. With the right fuel/air combination and a p-pump conversion i can easily make 500hp from what i have been reading. so here is the list:

12v List: (no prices yet)
-ARP Studs ($500)
-New Balancer
-Twins (specifics still up in the air on)
-Water Meth Kit ($800)
-P-Pump Conversion
-Rebuild Kit (approx $800)
-AirDog ($800)
-Injectors
-0-ring/fire ringed head

I am sure i missed a few things but that covers most of it, it is going to be an expensive conversion for sure but i was originally trying to get it done cheap an in the truck fast. Looking at the reality of it yesterday for the money i am going to spend to get it in the truck i would rather save more and in a sense go overkill on the tranny and block instead of going ust enough because if i go just enough i am always running at the 70-90% of the max rating of everything rather than the 50% area where it's almost guaranteed that nothing will go wrong and it will last forever. My plan is to get the Allison in and built first after i compete all my work i am doing now on the truck. Once all my current work is done the truck will be going to the body shop for the cab corners the hood and when i get a new tailgate to all get painted and installed. Once that is all done i will start work on the tranny and then the 12v motor. I am still up in the air about when i want to pull my 5.4l and 4r100 I may get the body work done and park her in the garage and just start that way i can POR the frame and get everything done i want to get done and have it preped for the motor and tranny. I will need to mount them before i finish building to motor because i need to see my clearances for turbos and the tranny mount now so its going to be an involved process for sure but i am up for it. I am going to put together a full parts list and plan and will post that when i am done i still have a little bit or research to do.

That should be it for bolts. that should come right out with a smack. Only thing is a carrier on 2 piece shaft that will make it not move! But yours is one piece correct?

Yup she is a 1 piece no carrier, should i get a sledge and a piece of wood so i don't dent the crap out of something? I was smacking her around pretty good lol but it was just a rubber mallet.

Sounds like a bigger hammer will do the trick. There is probably a lip on the driveshaft where it meets t-case and the axle. These areas tend to rust up, but they are there to make sure the shaft spins true without vibration. Edit: warming up the joint with a little propane torch may help.

While you have that shaft off of there, its a good time to drill and tap the slip joint to add a grease fitting.

Just to pile it on Matt, a brass hammer is one of my favorite tools. Since brass is softer than steel, you ding the hammer instead of what you are working on. But you still have the weight to get **** done and you are a lot less likely to smash fingers.

I believe dead blow hammers are similar, but I have always been partial to brass.

I am going to add the fitting to mine when I change my carrier bearing this summer. I've had it on the shelf, just haven't got there yet.

Don't forget Harbor Freight coupons. You should be able to get another 20 or 25% off.

I appreciate the Reps, but that's not why I do it lol. If it makes your life easier and your wallet a little lighter, that's enough for me

Probably not much. They are fiberglass I believe.

I need to get a set of those brass hammers for when I go to do some suspension work on the stang. Any of y'all know what tools are need to pull spindles off a mustang? I can get a set that goes in the stores for $250+ for $50 for the stang.

That is very possible. I know parts off chevys have to be light for the magnetic bumper to work. LOL

Still trying to figure out how it works on my mom's plastic bumper. LOL
