if I may - to share some finding - front clip is completely off but for the snow plow cage/support - easier to do the engine work - heads , front timing seal , new IP
I see one of the steel transmission fluid pipes to the ( was but not now ) stock tranny fluid cooler - is crimped at the bend -
Mates I have talked to when I bought my rebuilt e4od said it was really a fine transmission - just take care of it - I wonder if as in my case - is it the transmission - or the pipes and flows of fluids that do the more damage
Geoff,
If you'd like, I will send you the zip file I sent to Bozon on May 16th regarding rebuild tips for the E4OD. You will have to unzip it using Winzip or the like. You could browse it and see if a rebuild is something you want to tackle.
I just got wind of a site (via this forum) called:
Please put me on the request list for that .zip file. I've tried the other links and tried searching for it independently but no luck. Would love to have it if it will help me diagnose my current troubles.
I got the file . thank you dieselzen . can anyone tell what years of e4od trannys are interchangeable with my 92 (460 4x4 )
1989-1994 the harness/solenoid changed in 1995. If you're doing a rebuild yourself get the atsg manual and the update manual. Build it to fit your needs and you'll be very satisfied. I would highly recommend using the Sonnax Sure Cure kit along with following their specs for build up of the unit. Also be sure to use the F5 pump. If you would like a list of mods just let me know and I'll post. For most overhauls the Sure cure and the update pump will get the job done along with a quality master kit and quality rebuilt converter.
