Nice,,,, thx for the link. What are the silver ones that some people talk about. Those are way cheaper than Oreillys. About 100 cheaper for all 4.

Run6.0run, I may have missed it, but could you possibly post your total investment in your reman job? Not trying to see how deep your pockets were, just would find it useful for reference for those trying to figure out if they want to do it themselves or not.
Was mainly wondering on parts and labor(machine shop), not "antifreeze" (Budweiser).
Thanx

Ok sure. Here we go itemized,,, these are approx

South bend clutch. $900

Engine overhaul.
w/ new rockers,
pushrods, valve
bridges, valves, $4300
springs, keepers,
lifters,,,
Basically, a true overhaul kit. The overhaul kit without lifters n stuff was $1800, but that wasn't enough replacement parts for my mileage.

Machine shop. $1700

Crank seal tool hookup. $175!!!!!! Hard to believe huh?!?!

Front cover. $250

Tranny output seal,
Trans case input seal. $230 installed

Cac repair n intake hot tank. $220

Tranny jack. $200

Centramatics. $200

Brake fluid change. $100. with vac tool n fluid

Power steering hoses n fluid flush. $230

3 oil changes n tranny $320
fluid

All 3 fumotos, oil n 2 coolant. $80

Cam rework. $220

New rad hoses. $110

Cat coolant. $125

Ac recharge, not done yet. $150

New coolant bottle. $60

Coolant recirc kit revamp. $35

Paint????? Bout $200???? Don't really know tho

Halo headlights. $200

Led taillights n 3rd brake. $140

I will edit this as I remember. I started keeping receipts at first,,, but with the deer strike in big red,,, and the performance machine crap, I quit counting at about $12k. Total money spent with both trucks is pushing $16k. That sux,,,, the engine alone could be done for about $5000 if you reuse your rocker arms. I was on my way to Phoenix to buy a very nice 28' Kachina when the engine went out. So I don't get no boat right now. Sux.

The upper bumper cap for big red, you said that came from a guy in Michigan? Is he a do it yourselfer, or have a website? that is my neck of the woods and it looked really good.

How much do you have invested in BAND-AID® from all the work?

But really Myself and everyone really enjoyed the process and thank you
for taking the time to show us it can be done at home.

Are you going to be home for Christmas?
I know where I'll be after back surgery

Be safe and have a good time

Sean

Make sure you insure it properly. Just saying. Sunk a pile of cash into a van way back, the wife got rear ended and the insurance company f.....d me royally. Sent a copy of all the receipts to my insurance this time after bulletproofing my 6.0.

My 03 6.0 was stolen and I had all my receipts sent them to my old insurance company American National. The said it did not matter they compare to the vehicles in your zip code and surrounding ones and base it off that. They are no longer my insurance company and I hope the people I dealt with there have their vehicles stolen and totaled.

I do not want to kill the thieves that stole my truck. I want to cut their fingers of one joint at a time, over time to make them think about it. Then they can live out their lives with no fingers.

I had four vehicles broken into in my driveway one night about 15 years ago. Called the cops they didn't come just said call your insurance company. I said to the officer on the phone that if I had of met them with a baseball bat you would have come. His reply was that would be taking the law into your own hands and that's against the law. You'll go to jail.......WTF ......I said well if there is ever a next time and I see it that's what it will be. How the hell do the criminals have more rights than the victims??????
