Thing of beauty,,,,, it's done, Smooth engagement,,, goes n2 gear easily. Very cool,,, Also, the slop n the shifter????? The 2 freakin torx bolts backed out. The ones that attach the upper shifter to the shift tower. I loctited them this time. Jamming it into gear helped them back out I bet. But all is good. I also got out my 3/4" drive socket set n retightened the rear pinion nut. I didn't get it tight when I did the rear pinion seal (200k ago). Lol. I also grabbed some cheap Monroe front shocks. I've been throwing belts on tires,,, causing them to go out of round. No washboarding, no uneven wear,,, just throwing belts. I'm gonna trade them for bilsteins after I'm done spending on the holidays. Oreillys can order the bilsteins and I can return the Monroe's for credit on the bilsteins. Plus, Oreillys has to order from bilstein,, so it'd take them a week to get them. I ain't got that kinda time. But all is wonderful n my world. I also got a surprise for Xmas, but I can't disclose it til Xmas,,, the recipient might see it on here. Happy holidays all
Man that is great to hear some good news, you need it. It may pay you to keep an eye on the rear diff, grab it after a long run to make sure it is not getting hot.
Well,,,, not so fast actually,,,, It's starting to get hard to get into gear. It's way better than before,,, but still not perfect. I'm gonna let Mansel drive it before I get too carried away. At least I'm gonna get real quick at doin the clutch. I think I can do it in about 3 hrs.

Sadly I think the same thing happened to my Cummins when the clutch went out in it. It used to shift like butter till I broke an Input and my mechanic sold me a "good used" trans he had sitting there, I was rushed for time and could not get the parts needed, so in it went. I think the transmission's PO wore/ chewed up the syncros on it. It has never shifted as fast or as smooth as the other trans did. I am 3 South bend clutches later and have not fixed it. I had one rip apart at the rivets, one the center section grenaded, and I have no clue at the 3rd one since I have not pulled it yet, but it is doing the same as when it grenaded.
What's funny, is the Audi is just as high maint as ole grey,,, lol. Fast as heck tho.
I'm planning on being back at south bend on the morn of the 2nd. Hopefully I can get another pressure plate to try out. I've got about 6k mi on the new clutch and it hasn't slipped either. But this one engages smooth. We will see.
Wow,,, got the timing belt done n the audi,,,, hit 120 tonight. That thing is freakin crazy,,,, the owners manual says the governer is at 150 mph!!!! I gotta find a track to take it to before I get n2 trouble.
