Seriously, that has to feel good and give you confidence.
Maybe he did a "Road Kill" and has it in the bed
Good to hear the drive went good.
My first test drive about 3 miles did not go so good, lost brakes and the clutch linkage broke pulling in the drive.
Next outing a week later was a little better, 37 miles each way to a car show.
What I found funny was the wife asked what we do if it brakes down? I said we have AAA don't we
Dave ----
Thanks Abe ,i last drove it in high school in 1970 so it took a little while to wipe the grin off my face. and to Dave i don't have AAA but i have trailer and a wife that i think will come get me maybe??
Nice pictures. I'm happy for you guys. The weather has finally cooled off here so the garage isn't 90+ degrees inside. This starts our car show season. I need to get going on mine and get it drivable. Keep the pictures coming, It helps keep me motivated.
Since we have non-truck pics here is a poorer one from my old car (I made very little effort to aim the picture for obvious reasons). Typical run through Houston down I-10. Not the leisurely drive in the country like most of this thread...

I do not believe the songwriter knew how a BW OD worked on these old vehicles. Yeah, you shoved the T shaped **** in to engage OD but If you were after performance, you sure did not use OD.
Fred, that's impressive! I think we both have the same engine, and mine is in good shape, but I could never approach the speed you are going. My top speed is somewhere in the low 70's and getting there is a scary proposition. I can see overdrive as one advantage you have, but my steering, handling, and brakes just wouldn't do at 80+ mph. I'll have to look into getting my ride a little safer before the next big trip. For starters, one of my wheels locks up with even moderate brake pressure--not a good thing for cruising at interstate speeds.
Fred, I like it! I still run my F1 up to 70 once in awhile just to see if it will still do it. Ray, I know there were several versions of "Hot Rod Lincoln" but I always thought of a Columbia rear end in that Model A. "It's got 12 cylinders and uses 'em all, with an overdrive it just won't stall." Were the Columbia rear ends vacuum operated? The only OD's I ever drove as a kid, were in Shoebox's owned by my Dad and older brothers. Later after I was married, I built a '57 2dr with an FE engine and a BW T-85 with OD. Had it to 4600 once in high OD, but felt like it was about to fly! Luckily, I didn't "twist the speedometer cable off at the end." - Bob
