One more thing - that I am finding helpful is digital gram/ounces/pound scale. Found one on FleaBay for under $10 delivered. They seller did kind of a bait and switch, it's nicer than I thought it would be. Black glass platform, has some heft to it and looks prettty swank actually, like a giant iPhone. Can use it for pistons and connecting rods too! What's not to like?

Anyway this is the way to get an accurate calorie count. Then drill down on what the food value common ingredients is. Pretty soon you'll have them memorized. 1 oz. cheese = 100 calories, 1 Tbsp/1oz. butter = 100 calories 1 oz. mixed nuts = 170 calories 100 grams Russet potato = 77 calories etc.

It's pretty tasty stuff ain't it? Chocolate is also a diet killer for me. I found a good deal on some bars, to stock up for a spring hiking trip so snapped 'em up. Yeah, that was a Bad Idea ... I ate half of 'em in a week. Oops.

I had to lock 'em up.

Popcorn made in a skillet, Doritos, Mesquite BBQ potato chips.. My Kryptonite.

Weighed in at 224.4 this morning, down 15 lbs and 14 to go. Meals have been great and have consisted of chicken fajita casserole (seasoned chicken breast with bell peppers and cheese), slow-cooker roast and cabbage, chicken caesar salad, hard-boiled eggs w/Frank's red hot, scrambled eggs with ham\cheese, beef & cheese sticks, steamed broccoli in butter, cheeseburger patties dipped in mustard. For snacks we've had monk-fruit sweetened brownies, almonds mixed with stevia sweetened chocolate chips, and a low-carb custard.

The bad part of doing OMAD fasting is that we don't tend to eat a ton of each meal in a single setting, so I guess we'll be cleaning up leftovers for a couple days.

That sounds really good! Stop that ****, Franks Red hot is good stuff!

One thing I noticed, is what some refer to as "mindful eating", what that means is when someone starts to restrict calories or "OMAD" as you call it, it makes one really start to pay attention to exactly what it is you're stuffing into your belly, in terms of both the kind and quality of the ingredients. I take more care in the preparation too, making sure it's done just right. If I only have 800 or 1000 calories to play with - what's it gonna be? A bowl of buttered popcorn and a chocolate bar?

That'll never do, I'll be crawling on the ceiling in a few hours. Yesterday hit 5 ounces of mixed nuts, and a 1" block of Monterey Jack. About 950 cals, give or take. More filling or long lasting than I thought it would be, but I'm feeling it today. Might do it again today. I didn't meet the original New Years goal, so I'm going to push it faster.

Sure keeps the grocery bill down, Jeeze Louise!

No kidding on the mindful eating, it gives you a great insight as to exactly how much you're putting into your body daily. I also like the fact that we typically spend an hour or so preparing the meals which drives us to use quality, low-processed ingredients.

Speaking of choosing better ingredients, we just put in our order for half a cow from the butcher so we'll be eating lots of quality protein all of 2020. Just have to wipe out the remainder of our beef from last year's cow, I forsee a lot of roasts and minute steaks for the rest of the month.

My parents had a huge deep chest freezer in the basement back in the day, they are great. Can't remember exactly why they got rid of it, when they moved and it didn't work right in the garage in the winter? Too cold, doesn't make sense to me, but. Great way to store a side of beef, and frozen goodies.

My problem when making stuff like that, say a meatloaf or a casserole or large recipes, I tend to start out thinking "We can eat on this all week"... and then .... It's so good I end up eating half one day and whatever is left the next. Oops.

We currently only have a small 5 cubic ft deep freeze, so we'll be picking up another one this weekend to put in our basement. We thought about getting a huge one, but we don't have a truck to move it and I really don't want to try and physically budge one of those monsters. We had one growing up too and it took 4 guys whenever we attempted to move it anywhere so I'll pass.

Casseroles and other large dishes go quick at our home too, it's just too easy and convenient to pop some on a plate and warm it up for a quick and tasty meal.

Down 1 lb, 223.2

Ended up mostly cleaning up leftovers, for lunch had a chicken breast and peppers from the casserole. For supper had a few minute steaks w\cheese and sugar-free ketchup, broccoli and cheese soup, hard boiled egg, and half a tray of low-carb custard. Good eats!

220 was a "plateau" seems like, it took me a while to break through that for some reason, seemed like a month, though it wasn't that long. Then I bounced off 205 a few times. Very frustrating. Saw 199 briefly on the scale and promptly shot up to 206... It does seem quicker to re-lose the rebound pounds maybe.

Today 195.2, this pencils out so far to a total fat loss of 47 lbs. an average of 1.67 lbs. per week. It would be a lot higher except for losing focus at times. It does seem like 1.5 to 2 lbs. a week is about the most realistic rate over any longer time frame. At least for me.

10 lbs. to go to hit the recommended height/weight table spec. Had 2 "flavor explosion" brats today with a slice of melty velveeta on top, hot mustard, and 2 poached eggs w/runny yolks on buttered toast. (940 calories) give or take.

This weekend was not a good weekend for my progress, lots of heavy foods, because we were invited to go out an eat with my brother, and I made a heavy meal last night. Reverse progress. I was on track until Saturday morning FWIW..

I made a hamburger/tater casserole. Oops!

2lbs ground beef, 4 smallish potatos, 1/4ish block of Velveeta, 1 large onion, cup milk, flour for roux, 1 can cream of mushroom soup etc. It's really good.

The whole thing has got to be somewhere around 4500 calories, and I ate half. LOL.

The daily intermittent fasting is the only thing that saves my progress. Despite periodic and regular failures to stay within certain calories the average is still 1.6 lbs fat loss per week.

It sure takes a while to get back on track. The OMAD thing works great, for me anyway.

The last 10 pounds is a royal bit ch though. Height and weight tables say 185, we'll see how it goes.

Another factor is making normal recipes. I have to be careful I've discovered and only make them in single serving sizes or I'll eat the whole $&ing thing. I made Chicken and Rice yesterday, turned out pretty good.

Brined about 6 oz. of yardbird breast in lemon juice & apple cider vinegar, salt, and sugar for about two hours. Then carmelized a small handful of chopped onion in butter. 1/4 cup of rice, 1 can of condensed mushroom soup, milk, and about 1/4 packet of Lipton onion soup mix.

I like a little heat and flavor so crushed up a garlic clove to paste, some garlic powder for good measure and added a healthy splash of Kikkoman soy sauce, a Tbsp of dry mustard powder and a tsp, Ginger powder, some black pepper, white pepper, and cayenne to taste, bake at 325° till done.

Calorie count was 800 to 900 or so, and filling. I did end up sopping the gravy with a piece of bread or two, the gravy was really good. I think it was the mustard powder and the cayenne that gave a little whang to it, the garlic was in thar but didn't overwhelm, couldn't really taste it. Had a bay leaf all tee'd up and ready to go, but I forgot it.
