Thanks!
It has been a long twisty road with many speed bumps and cliffs to go over.

Each time I thought I saw light at end of tunnel I ran towards it only to find it was yet another train that would once again run me over!

Pick up the pieces and start over again...

appears there is daylight at end end of tunnel now.

I maybe crawling when when I get there & on a tow rope but hoping to make it.

Poll:
what ‘66 would you be most interested in seeing it installed in.
4x2
factory 4x4 using ‘66 frame and axles
factory 4x4 frame but with late model F150 suspension grafted in.
Any one of them will retain stock dash but get late model HVAC.

(Will be in book)

anyone done a front disc swap on ‘66 f100 4x4 axle?
Think it’s a Dana 44

Another very possible swap is a 2018-19 5.0 10 spd with a SuperCharger into a ‘66.

No, but I did on my 75. The brake parts are all pretty much bolt on from a 76 and later if you just use the spindles outward. However, I also I went with the 78-79 model steering at the same time to get rid of the leaky Garrison power assist and that did require some modification.
EDIT: I guess I should ask the question- open or closed knuckle Dana 44?

My vote is a 4x4. There are kits for the disc brakes but I think most people just swap in a late 70's axle with disc brakes.

mine heck of a time trying to decide. Unlimited amount of options.

Decided to go with ‘66 4x4 chassis & keep ‘66 axles.

Next guy can do any upgrades they may want.

Trying to find late 70’s model 4x4 parts here is like finding that 100% zero rust truck in rust belt states.

That replica of my dad’s truck is still one truck I want to do before I hang up the tool belt but most likely will not go stock drivetrain because of cost involved.

The F100 Ranger will be the one that remains stock.
Pretty hard to beat the MPG with anything late model & the truck drives fantastic. Has great factory power brakes. Power Steering and Cold A/C.

Eco2 still gotta be painted.

2.7 eco in a 1966 F100 4x4! Fantastic fit! So well I can use stock engine mount location no welding needed!

This should be a great build. Most of what you do should apply to the F100/150 4x4 trucks all the way up to '79 and also the '78/79 Broncos. Any issues with oil pan clearance on the front axle? Also, transmission/transfer case clearance at the cab floor. Since your cab is a 4x4/4spd with the removal high hump I assume no issues but do you think it would clear with the standard floor.

no oil pan clearance issues for entire front suspension travel! Yes, it will clear the standard floor hump no issue. Not even a tweak.

Transfer case close to cab crossmember depending on how high one has it. Push came to shove one could grind a touch or rib
