Are you planning an out of country road trip with that 800 mile range? Are those mufflers Borla by any chance?
thinking of making a Trip to Canada this spring... lol
Hoping to take it on a lower 48 state trip in September or maybe this spring. Since it’s going to be a “driver” found out with Eco1 it’s really nice to go long distances as cruising the backroads it’s easy to not have enough fuel.
I want to be able to go from here to Southern California & back home on a single fuel fill.
Mufflers and basic exhaust is from the 482” FE. Mufflers are DynoMax. Since it’s very hard to get a 6 to sound good I may have to add a quiet muffler in tailpipes. Quiet it until there is no sound. Don’t think anyone has tried this combo on a 6 I am aware of.
i am also hoping to run E50 and the stations that carry it in AZ are few and far between.
Amazing work as usual. Thanks for coming back and sharing. I remember when you bought the Rainbow Ranger. I thought that it was one of the ugliest Slicks that I had ever seen. Hard to believe that it's the same truck, and so many original parts could be restored.

it was unreal how many of the Original to truck pieces on Rainbow I was able to restore.
Pretty much untouched truck except for the crazy exterior paint job.
factory overdrive restored back to natural finish. Not a spray gray like many do.
Prior to Teardown Very nice cab! Not even a pinhole in cab corners or floor.
Got a bit carried away with Rainbow.
once paint was removed it was revealed how nice it was under that hideous paint job.
Looking good! Did the a/c compressor mount and water pump pulley come with the truck or did you put the package together to work with both thermactor and a/c? The compressor mount looks different than the Mapco part.

its all OEM/Dealer installed.
a local rancher bought it new From Local dealer but sale went thru California dealer the reason for Smog.
All C-6 part numbers. Some of AC brackets were gray in color so painted to match as new.
The Rancher had seen a ‘65/66 T-Bird on dealer lot this color and ordered this ‘66 Ranger same color with the T-Bird spinner hubcaps. Still trying to figure out what vehicle the center jump seat would have been from vs the typical optional console.
after tearing it down & stripping paint and seeing how original never messed with i just couldn’t make myself mod it in any way.
very limited funds to spend much on NOS so trying to restore original stuff best I can.
I do plan on driving it a fair amount.
