Project Update: newest project is a 1965 N Cab which used to be a Arizona Highway Dept truck. In orange of course.
Plan: Install cab on 2018 Chassis. FULL electronics with 3.5 10 spd combo. All the creature comforts as a 2018-20 F150
Trailer sway control, anti skid anti roll, full abs, TPMS, Satellite radio, cameras etc. Of course 500 HP too. If I run E85 I can use carpool lane!
It should weigh about same weight as a 1965-66 F250
Took much longer to get cab off trailer than it did to find it will be perfect fit?
cab in place in 10 min. I can use combo of F150/N700 mounts to bolt it up.
You sure do take the easy road to those truck projects.
Most well-seasoned builders would avoid the thought of such cross-joining of said old-new vehicles, especially if trying to make them appear as factory as possible but you relish in the challenge and persevere to the end.
I admire your foresight, enthusiasm & persistence.
Congrats on past project accomplishments and curent project successes.
I look forward to all your project updates and photo's.
Thank you for sharing - Pete
Wow that cabs in good condition for the year. I just bought a 1965 F100 4x4 any hints on places to get parts out west?
Parts for slicks are dwindling quite fast. Still around if one is patient or if one parts them out but not worth searching selling. Every once in a while I sell pieces but not often. Recently did sell a couple of builder trucks.
Take a good straight rust free cab n doors for instance. It's very difficult to get 500-600 for cab n doors yet the chevy folks stand in line to pay 10,000.00 for same thing in repo!
I have a few things I would sell but only in person.

Thanks Pete!
I have found it costs so much more to go original especially on engine, transmission, overdrive stuff if one really wants to drive them. Easier cheaper late model.
I currently have 3 ecoboost swaps ongoing for myself and one for a neighbor. The rest are all big block ford stuff in various stages. FE/FT and 429/460
Currently working on the big N crew but like most projects progress is very slow. Barely fits in side garage. Will not fit in main shop.
1964 short bed with F600 cab and 460 C6. 50 psi oil pressure at idle hot. typical compression 170+ sounds really healthy. Now that I know it runs fantastic it's time for a full engine detail.
Carb now apart for the 65' F600 too. Had it a year now but have not tried to fire and was not sure if it was 330, 361 or 391 but checked it out to find it really is a 391. Has good compression cranking by hand looks like some engine work with not so many miles since. Hope to get it running this week but waiting on a Holley Carb kit. Nothing local. 3 Holley Carb rebuilds just this week.
I picked up the '64 short bed rolling chassis with 460 and C6 (supposedly both rebuilt within 25k miles) complete with exhaust, driveshaft, radiator and all suspension with these nice wheels for only 500.00
Hoping the 391 in '65 is in good shape so I don't have to drop the 460 in it. Oh, and the 500.00 included a 429 from a '73 TBird It's now all apart. Maybe in the future I will drop a set of B9 heads on it after full rebuild of the shortblock.
Not that it matters a great deal but I am curious what the casting numbers are on your 'new' 460 engine you just got running? (D0VE Block? D0VE-C Heads? or other castings?
Yes, that engine does sound tight & right!
Congrats on a couple super good deals - Pete

they are both D1VE blocks. Both have D3 heads my favorites except for CJ & Boss.
429 is from ‘73 TBird and 460 i think is from a station wagon. Tbird 429 has C9 exhaust manifolds with ‘73 dates. 460 manifolds are ribbed style did not look at dates.
