Well, cold and moist I guess. I was referring to the intake charge on cold start in uber wet weather. I have no idea if that could damage a glow plug or not. Just throwing it out there...

And when I say wet, I mean foggy, such that the moisture is actually making it's way into the cylinders.

I am sorry but I am just not buying the water thing....
Water is in the cylinders as it is a product of combustion....
You can buy a kit and inject a 50/50 mix of WATER and methanol into your intake and not only do they say it is not BAD for the engine, they actually say it is GOOD for the engine. (I have never had water/meth system on a deisel so I don't know a lot about them though..)
Oh and get this... I have to pay $3000.00 core charge.
What is a "core charge?"
In addition to the engine replacment/labor cost?
I hope you have another dealer you can move to after this experience.
I blame this dealer for making Ford look bad and Ford appears to completely rely on dealerships.
I don't know why they spend the money to send an FSE when the dealer's word stands.
A core charge is the price of the motor thats being pulled out, if you decide to keep the bad motor you pay the core charge. If the bad motor is returned there is no core charge. Usually there is a core charge on a rebuilt replacement, but when buying anything new there is no core charge.
Tough love time. If, indeed, I take your story as truth,
let me say this as kindly as I can since Darren is being so diplomatic...
YOU ARE GETTING RIPPED OFF. THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL YOU INGESTED ENOUGH WATER THROUGH THE AIR SYSTEM TO DESTROY THE MOTOR UNLESS YOU DROVE IT UNDERWATER.
Can't tell from your story who exactly is doing the ripping, but ripping is blatant. Did the truck stay on the side of the road for two weeks, or at the dealer? If at the dealer, why in the world did you leave it there? Why did you say that you'd pay for a motor prior to a diagnosis? After weeks of poor service and inattention, why did you leave it there? After not letting you talk to the Ford rep, why did you leave it there? After they didn't show you any paperwork from Ford, why did you leave it there? After they told you to take it somewhere else, why did you leave it there? Are they wanting a core charge to let you take the motor, or because they say the core is damaged?
While I have some compassion about your predicament, you have yet to demonstrate any evidence why I should continue doing so. You say you have multiple trucks in your business, which leads me to believe that you must have some sort of business sense. So let's see it.
And send your VIN to Crazy, else none of this ever happened.
Rickatic, what 6.4 debacle did Ford encounter? The 6.4 (MaxForce 7) is a diesel engine in Navistar's lineup with a B50 life of 350,000 miles.
While the 6.4 engine has been better than the 6.0 in some ways, the top notch techs I know, and a few frequent this site, do not like the 6.4 engine. One or two would have a 6.0 before a 6.4.
If you want to remove the 6.4 comment from my statement, have at it. The rest of the statement stands...
Have seen this video before and I agree some of these guys are driving it through flooded roads etc. if there was a worry aboout water in the intake that would be the time!...I agree the only way the could be enough water to have that happen would be to submerge the motor.

Ford used to have this video on their website but it's been purged.
