Well I found out that most of the gunk at the bottom of my oil pan was part of the oil pump that had broken. Glad to know it wasnt something like cam bearings. Already got the new oil pump getting ready to install it here shortly.
Yikes, thats never fun to find in there. The pics look good and the newly painted parts look great and as always, the car looks awesome. I bet it will be feeling much better after this
Thanks Dylan! I hope everything goes back together smoothly. Then I have to gather parts to do the head gaskets and valve covers. Though I'm going to wait on those, I just ordered new valve covers so I don't see a point in replacing gaskets now and then again in a week. I think the motor will be fine for a week and I'll take it nice and easy on it.
I see, did you get those fancy Edelbrock ones? Eventually i want to get rid of my stock covers and get something a bit better looking. I have heard the stock ones don't seal well anyways.
Factory valve covers tend to leak once overtightend, they are just stamped seel and bend. Any Stamped steel covers will do that. This is why auminum covers are better, but more expensve.
I see. I don't think these are hardly tight to begin with, the last time i tightened them there was a few pretty loose and i didn't get them real tight just in case i get a weak bolt.
I have an exhasut leak so I picked up some Mr gasket copper gaskets. I've replaced the passenger side gasket, but it seems teh leak is still there. I plan to do the drivers side but was told by my exhaust shop it was on the pass side.....
I did have to use some washers on the EGR botls to get them to hold tight against the intake. Ill post some pics up soon!
Hmm, could it be a problem with the head it'self? Possibly a small amount of warping around the exhaust ports? I was going to say it might be the manifold warping but i tihnk the bolts would have flattened it out a bit.
Here's a quick pic of the header and gasket being replaced. Its a snug fit for sure.

Damn i like this thread build!! But if your exhaust shop said pass side.. they are more than likely right.. But do the drivers and see what the outcome is.. I did my drivers and the pass is leaking a lil bit..
The old gasket literally fell off in pieces when I pulled the header so I feel that the drivers side is prolly just as bad. Heck its just an hour or so of time, might as well.
Metal should be the standard but i had some crappy fiber gaskets that came with the headers. For some reason i cheaped out and put them on. Just shows what happens when you cut corners.
