It all depends on what you prefer. I don't mind auto for driving but i like manuals cause you get to choose the next shift. Plus it helped me stay awake when driving at night. Of course driving the bronco with how noisy it is and how it bounces around i can't fall asleep but my 88 ranger was pretty quiet.

I was no driving expert with manuals and i did burn the clutch a lot but it was still pretty fun to drive.

It'd be more practical because id be going from a 3 speed to a 5 to a with overdrive. Performance would be better as well as MPG.

I thought you had 4 gear/OD in your auto trans? Unless people don't consider it a 4th gear...

Actually, autos have the advantage off-roading.

I assume better handling and concentration due to not having to worry about clutch position and gear...

Also sorta on topic sorta not, in 87 did the bronco come with an E4OD? A friends uncle has one and the trans has gone out twice. They aren't very mechanically inclined but this info will help me down the road i think.

The zf5 is good. I like mine in my bronco...it is noisy a little. But the first low gear and reverse helps me out when towing.

87 should have an AOD IIRC Dylan.

Yeah a ZF would be killer. So hopefully my T5 swap goes well in my 68

Well I little truck update. Since I've been in Fort Benning all month the GF has been driving the Bronco. Yesterday she complained of a grinding and screeching noise. She took pictures, whatever she did its caused a tie rod bolt to rub against the rotor. Geez....

That was my first thought. Either bent a tie rod ir the wheels bearings are loose. Only things I could think of off top of my head.

Looks like the wheel bearings came loose on that side. Not sure how since they were torqued to spec, but who knows. Have to wait till alter to unpack some tools.
