I was going to wait and leave this motor alone since it worked while I built up the other motor. But its hard when you've got a new intake, carb , and gaskets just sitting around. Thankfully none of the bolts gave me much grief, everything went about as smooth as could be. Just gotta wire up the choke after work and take it for a test drive.
It looks good and shiny, that your old lady there Brett So far with TGM it will start with the snap of a finger most days, some days it wants to be a butthead and not start right away but since there is always gas in the fuel filter housing and pressure in the line it has a sort of "primer" type of thing and has gas as it cranks. I find it to be pretty nice.
On the Zebra note, have you checked along the exhaust for any heat shield rattles? Or under the dash for loose bolts? My truck has a ton of rattles but hey, it gives it character. My biggest complaint is somewhere in the mounting screws of my steering column there is a squeak and some days it isn't there some days it is. It almost sounds like metal on metal. Maybe i will eventually get around to finding it and stopping it
I don't think its anything as simple as a heat shield, but I haven't really looked into it. I don't think its anything in the dash because it makes this sound as it sits still idling
Oh, maybe something came loose... Hope it isn't anything bad.
Yeah Rich it only squeaks on hot days when it has dried out a lot. And if i am idling it will squeak but if i push up on the wheel it stops, also if the bass from my subs is up loud it makes it squeak sometimes. It only gets annoying when it is squeaking though
Water is a great lubricant. So if it stops in the rain than the problem is outside where it can get wet. Right?
Not if your truck is 30+ years old and the cowl is rusted out. All Broncos tend to squeak when the top rubs against the body. Not really a way to fix this. Sometimes its quiet sometimes it'll squeak.
Top as in the fiberglass one? No no no i had that already but fixed it by actually using all the bolts this is under the dash and it seems like the black thing that is screwed into the dash at the base of the column is the culprit. I have to look at it on a day when it is bad. I doubt it is under the truck unless it is right up against the floor and even then this small of a squeak would be muffled too much to hear. Though i did have a body mount squeak a while ago and when it got wet it was fine. I was going to find it and fix it but i is gone now...
Yeah. Im just sick of the poor performance and mileage I get with the e4od currently. It doesn't leak and it doesn't use any fluid. All the sensors I know of have been replaced. I am collecting info and parts to convert my 68 from a C4 to a T5. Seems like it should be a smooth transition. Ill keep you guys up to date on any projects of course!
T5 shouldn't be hard. Most of it would be the fabing of a hole for the shifter then the pedals right? otherwise it is like the manual sister of the C4 i think.
