Here's a quick video of my Mustang idling. I'll try to get a drive by when I have someone to hold my camera/phone. I do plan to either rebuild my current motor or just get a reman with a roller cam. There is a slight knock sound and I'm not sure what I'll find inside the motor. Any ideas?
Ok heres a short video of the Mustang with a little rev. I don't rev the motor too much currently because the fan smacks against the fan shroud at about 2700-3000 RPMs Should prolly just remove the shroud, but I plan on an electric fan if I can find one that fits.
Hey Brett when ya get rid of the Bronco you can still have a truck and stay right here. All ya got to do is take the deck lid off the back of yer Horse.
That's a great idea Artic! I actually just found a guy with a few extra motors sitting around so I may be getting some more ponies under the hood. He has a 351 Windsor and cleveland and even has an old 429!! I think that's a bit too much for my little project car....hmm
When are you having the knock? if it's at start-up only that change will work (10 -> 15) but the operating temp viscocity is the same for both oils (40 = 40) so you won't have any changes or improvements if the knock is at operating temp.
They had some good 20-50 on sale so I got that and a new filter of course. I'm gonna try that tomorrow and see what happens. It really has just started doing this recently so hopefully the oil takes care of it.
I also plan to install a new fuel pressure regulator on the Bronco this weekend.
Hey Brett thats an awesome sounding AND looking mustang. I may be wrong but doesn't that sound like a rocker? The way it tapps then will kind of go silent and do it again? Also i noticed your little shroud slapping there in the second one The shouldn't be hard to fix if you decide to keep the regular fan over electric. Plus i think a 429 is a good motor for it, but i think that would be a lot of work to fit that and a C-6 in it. Plus the driveline issues and that little bit where the rear end implodes on itself... But it would be cool.
One ore thing, what was on the hood? Looked like a ghosted paint job or a big wear mark or something...
Hey guys! Sorry I was out of town for a bit. I had to go down to Galax for a conference.
Anyway!!!!! Check this out

I got this motor out of a 2000 Explorer for $250, in has everything! I plan to take all the crap off and build it up a bit and drop it in my 68. Eventually I may convert the 68 to EFI. What do you think, good deal or what?
Also I've noticed that the Zebra makes a sweet mobile engine work-on platform. I have a cradle to set the motor on (came with engine) but unfortunately my buddy left the forklift keys in his pocket
