It broke in half at the steering shaft. Very strange as it happened while spotting in a parking lot. It just came off the road to a warehouse. Something bad must have happened years ago?
Might want to check with a Freightliner dealer, they bought Fords heavy truck division in 97 and sold them under the Sterling name.
Other wise you'll need to check with big truck salvage yards.
That part number represents a part introduced in 1990 but it could also be a part that supersedes a older part number, was hoping Bill could shed a little more light on what years and models that part fits.
Howdy Numbers found an old 1960 firetruck now side dump down the road. Wasnt looking one but had to have it when I found it. No idea what I will do with it. Plates expired in 2014 but primed the carb and added break fluid gave it a jump and drove it home had been sitting for the last 5 years. Says something for this old truck!
Anyway was wondering about info on this truck.

Hello all, I am trying to decode a VIN and door post sticker codes for a 1995 L9000 I am interested in. Bill helped me with similar request several years ago.
VIN is 1FDZY90T0SVA54138 . Is there any type of online database where I could look up the codes on my own? The DSO, axle and trans codes would also be good to decode. The original engine type and model would also be very important to understand.
Thanks in advance for any help with this, Dan
I posted this in its own thread several days ago and got no response. I probably should have posted it here in the first place so I will update the other thread referring all to here. Thanks, Dan

I cannot decode this, or anything after 1989. Microfiche viewer bulb burned out and I'm not making much of an effort to find one...because some things have just become too much for me to do.

That's a lot of truck, 18K front, 46K rears, The engine, trans and axles in those trucks have tags that give more info than one can get from the door code
Allright, thanks guys for responding and Bill I hope you get your microfische bulb sometime in the future. The truck is 1200 miles away from me and I was hoping to understand a liitle more about it from the engine digit in the VIN and the trans and axle codes on the data sticker. If I buy it and have it trailered home I'll see if the tags are readable on the components and see what I've got that way. Do you know if the 8th digit of the VIN is the engine code? If so it would be "T" for this unit? Thanks, Dan
Thanks 85e150, Through a lot of backwards searching of internet trucks that listed the engine type and VIN I was able to find that the 1995 heavy truck "T" engine code corresponded to trucks with a CAT 3306 10.5L engine. I was hoping it was a 3406 14.6 L but those had a "W" engine code on the others I found. Thanks, Dan
