They are like 1970 broncos but cooler I freaking love that thing oh gimme gimme gimme lol I wouldn't want anything to fancy a lift tires and 4bt and yes I knew the nv4500 would probably be best what t case and I'm off to bed but excited to read this in the morning.... Oh and some after market bumPers lol
Scouts, Broncs, and L-Cruisers are all kool. His Cruiser has been torn apart for at least 15 years. I hear ya, 35's and a peppy 4BT would be great in a daily driver, but wont be blowing away Corvettes. The T-case depends on which side the front axle's pumpkin is on. Easiest thing to use is a whole package from a Dodge. A 4BT mated to the Dodge NV4500, and the Dodge NVG 241DHD T-case, with Dana 60 or similar axles. Aftermarket bumpers? Dont you wanna make your own? This is one I made:
I have a welder but have never fab my own I had a TJ and it was no corvettes killer that's for sure but also on 40 inch tires it was a bitch lol I'd live to find a way to fab my own stuff it's a little hard I live with my parents in suburbs and my dad hated my jeep he drives a lincoln lOl the mud made him sick... And I don't have a garage to use unless I grab a small daily driver and than build a scout... Dilemmas dilemmas dilemmas lol
Btw that winch plate is sweet and good morning super Dale lol
I looked at the doubler I kinda get it but not really and how much is a doubler, also is that like those rock crawlers u see with 2 sticks beside the 5 speed ??
What is the purpose of 2 over just one also I have a daily diesel now finally finished the swap I'll be able to start forking money into a build what scout year is best anyways I looked at the terra and the scout 2 they are freaking awesome. Do all scouts have beds or do sone have rear seats like a bronco ideally anything like a single cab with a bed or annex cab with a bed like a bronco almost would be best and that way I eliminate needing a second vehicle I.e a jeep and a ford.... Wahoo also is the 4bt going to be strong enough to off road and daily. I saw some 6bt scouts but isn't that over kill and would waste fuel and does the scout have enough room for cOmpounds sorry lots of questions u know what happens when I get excited j never shut up lol
No real space to do it kinda makes it harder. Maybe you could make real good friends with a farmer, and borrow their shop space.
The doubler acts like a brownie box on a rig. It prvides an extra set of lower gears. Then, the Tcase's gears further deepen the low range. They have an option of a 3 shifter for the doubler. One for the low range gear box, one for the Tcase low/hi/neutral, and one for tcase 2wd/4wd. That makes for some super low crawlin speed. The best scouts were 75-80, mainly because disc brakes were standard. They have the option of a bed(Terra), but basically a bigger jeep. Rear seat folds up for cargo space. I had a 77 Scout2 SS with a 4cyl, and it got 16mpg. One of my favorite rides. The 4 banger was like 105hp, and way torkey. A 4BT would be plenty peppy with just the fuel adjusted(about 150hp). There's room for compounds on a 4BT, not a 6, in a Scout.
U still have ur 4bt and how would I fit a doubler under the scout and I think I have a differend side project woot just bought back my 1987 vw fox 1.6L na diesel 55 mpg for the win
Nah, I sold that 4bt a while back. It was an industrial unit with an SAE#3 bell hsg, and a Lucas CAV pump. The terra is just a 2 seater pickup. Regular scouts have the back seat. The guys on Pirate can tell you all kinds of uselsess info on them. Since you have the fox now, you can concentrate on a 60 f250 sport truck....corvette killer. Not killer in handling though.
I'd prefer a cj or scout I love love fords but if I want one vehicle, how can I off road a 250 when my gfs dad hosts the London jeep club ? 40 people and 40 jeeps on rock trails and mud u can't use a f250 on both
It may be setup for a jeep, but there's no reason a well setup full size cant blast thru the same trails. I've taken a 4x4 med duty IH thru some places jeep boys wouldnt even touch.
Well, sure an ext cab may be a little harder, but with some crafty driving, it can be done on 95% of the trails that a jeep will do. A scout will probably be more accepted in the jeepers crowd. What kind of details do you mean?
If the scout us 2 seated with a bed why not a lifted 4bt ranger or f150 single cab shirt box 1994 ? What makes the scout so great ? I sti want just one vehicle to do my towing off roading and daily driving and be semi quick and good on fuel
I just mentioned scouts, mainly because it's not a jeep. Nothing against em, but they're like a mustang or camaro....blah...too many of em. Your imagination can come up with some great combos if you start thinking intently about it.
