315hp & 400tq? what is it, 351W stroker?
Yep, the body is the same on the 100& 250, the 350 had a little bigger wheelwell. If you use the half ton frame, it'll need to be boxed in.
Must have focus!
The 360.....what is gonna happen with it? It all depends on the power goals. There's a place or 2 in the mid west that makes a big cube kit for them, and it takes it to around 450ci, if I remember right. If you're going for affordable, and a lower power level, then you wont need to go that wild. Could be as simple as pump mods, injectors, & a turbo.
The older frames are like a [ and a ], as looking at it from the end. Boxing just fills in the space with a flat plate steel, like this...sorta [| and |]
Basically, the cross section will look like a box.
Simple mods can get you 500, possibly even 600hp. Much past the 400 range will need a better injector pump, namely a P-pump like the one the Dodges use.
If I'm getting the dt360 with a 10 speed I'll stay rear wheel and if I need 4x4 I can always add a divorced 205... So let's focus on the f100 than and how much is it to box in a frame ? If the body is the same size can I at least get a steering colum that has an adjust on it my only concern with an f150 of 2000+ vs a 250 is I can't fit in to the 150 they don't have tilt steering and I'm 6 foot 5.... Lol and 550-600 sounds way more of what I need I think as a young man I got too excited "Pre mature pour" lol just kidding
I thought the dt466 had a few years where they came p pumped. And again if I'm going dt360 what year specifically do I want ? And I have to start drawing up my plan before I do anything
Yep, P-pump on the 466, the 93-95 did, and some of the 96 & 97s did.
For the 360, 90-92 are the years to have. As with the 466, newer is better. The 360 was only made up until late 92/early 93.
Ok I'll look for that. What do h think of 2x4 ? Also who makes turbos and injectors and lifter pumps for these engines and sorry for the late reply and is there any way to make a 10 speed short shift I'm an aggressive shifter I'd hate to grind gears. I work in an oil change shop strict no cell phone rules I'm off work already that's why the late reply
A 2wd would make things way more simple and less expensive. Boxing is relatively simple to fab up. Worry about that after you snag a truck, so you can take it to a shop for an estimate.
That truck will be just fine as a donor. To downshift, you need to be in a low rpm in 6th, at the time you push in the clutch...flip the lever down...let out the clutch as you pull it to neutral...and rev the engine to where you expect the rpm to end up at...then re-push the clutch & pop it into 5th & let out the clutch. With practice, you can skip the clutch part, if you're careful. Mods? A p-pump with at least 400cc, 4k governer springs. Injectors; look for around a 5x20(it'll make more sense as you shop). The pump adaptor, gear, & hub to run a Ppump. Turbos; hx40/16 and an HT3B/26(check dodge forums for good deals). You can get head studs & good rod bolts, as an insurance policy, but it's not mandatory. Comp cams has some valve springs that work, but I dont have the number handy. Oh, the 10 spd shifts pretty good for what it is, but it will never pound thru gears like a Mustang. You can run on just the top 5(6th-10th), depending on your gearing & weight. Ok....back to work for me.
So allthe mods u mentioned to me how much power should I be making estimated hp and torque also... Did I read that right 2 turbos ? Lol my Dakota friend is all for cummins I'd love to race a 5.9 cummins and eat it and be like "see bitches built international tuff"
I cant give any exacting info on final hp & torque, but when all is said & done, an IH 360 will outlast a Cummins 6BT at the higher hp levels. They are just built heavier in the bottom end. Probably survive a nuclear blast. Yes, compound turbos, an identical set to what the Dodge boys use. Just a guess, it would land around 600hp with 12-1300 for tq. What they dont know, is the DT360 has been making in excess of 1000hp long before the first 6BT has. To make a 6BT survive big power, it takes a billet/kustom block. The IH's have lived past 2000hp on a stock block. In my eyes, there is no other truck engines to use in a hot application.
