I brought my template and half sheet of 1/8" metal diamond plate to the mobile welders house. He said it would take 4-5 hours to cut the pattern out and weld in a 1" plain backing (not a piece of the diamond plate)and his price $200. I said no thanks and drove to the metal shop that has been doing all my metal work. They have been more that fair with me. They said they could get to it quick and even use a piece of the diamond plate to make the small lip. Here are pics of the originals
Were the bumpers originally painted black or were they red? I didn't pay attention on the earlier pics
Prime and sand, prime and sand, paint and sand, paint and sand, buff and polish, buff and polish. You're going to have a fun spring....LOL (I'm buying stock in Motrin)
Bobby, they were red. The first truck the Patrol had built sported a nice chrome bumper. I thought about it but thats not original. Ordered a case of Motrin today which should get me through the end of the week ...LOL
We got most of the trim permanently installed today. More fun on the roof!! Using alot of screws.
We got the rest of the trim mounted today. It took a while to make sure all trim was lined up correctly. Also got the front valance mounted. The owner of the body shop came by to look at the truck one more time. He was pleased at how everything looked. He said to bring it down to his shop the middle of next week.
Are you having the truck painted as one assembled piece or will the truck be disassembled into as many pieces as possible, jambed, reassembled and then painted completely?
