Excellent news

Thanks for the update on Gerald, I'm glad to hear that he's doing well.

Now that you got the fuel leak fixed there's no excuse for not taking the beauty out on the road.

Have fun
Bobby

Keith, maybe I missed it, but did you drive the truck the 50 miles each way to the show? If so, how did it handle and perform? Any interesting stories to tell us, like people honking, thumbs up or anything else??

Will do Bobby!!

Ilya, the big St Paddy's day parade is in 2 weeks. I am on duty that day so I am going to try and get the day off. There are 2 other St Paddy's Day parades this weekend. It may be too late to enter them now. I am going to make some call today. I will probably just do one of them.

Sounds like fun

For the next several weeks I'll have to live vicariously through you. I'm still quite a ways from getting my truck back on the road.

Too much to do, too little time (and even less money)

Do we need to call your boss? We can explain to him how important it is for us to live vicariously through you and that you have to have the day off for the parade or 1000's of FTE folk will be heartbroken.

This weekends parades are out ... waited too long. Next weekend's big one may be a go - still trying to get the day off.

I am always looking for vintage parts for the truck. I found these on ebay.

Not sure if they will work on my truck. I can't find these numbers in the shop manual of chassis parts accessory catalog. I'll have to call Chuck or maybe number dummy may know.

Had the truck out yesterday and she ran great until I was pulling in to the property where I store it. The clutch pedal went to the floor
I was able to stop ok. I opened the gate and started her in 5th gear ( I have previous experience doing that LOL) and drove her straight into the barn. I didn't have time to check the problem out. Hopefully its something minor.
Bummer!!

Owning an old Ford is like stepping on your own *****.

Its always something with these old trucks. I'm glad you were close to your storage and not out on the highway. I'll keep my fingers crossed that its something simple.

Bobby, I crawled under the truck this morning and noticed the clevis pin was missing (73931-S) so it looks like its going to be an easy fix.

Easy if ya got another pin. I have made them from a bolt.
And have just used a long bolt and double nutted it
before. It's prolly still working today.

Thanks guys!! I went to Home Depot and picked up a universal clevis pin.
I think I got the right size ... will find out tomorrow morning.

A little update on the book - I submitted my ad for our union newsletter the other day. I believe the newsletter comes out the first of the month.

I also got a call from my departments Public Information Bureau and they will be doing a press release soon for me. Ads in fire department trade magazines should be out soon. Hopefully with all the above exposure I can finally get the book printed

Keith,
if you have the kind of luck I have, you bought the wrong size pin and will have to make a 2nd trip to the store....lol

Good news on the book. I think the ads should generate good interest. Our fingers are crossed

Bobby, we have the same luck!! I bought a 1/4" and a 5/16 was needed. I wish all repairs on the truck only cost me $2.00!! I'm back in business ... nice firm clutch pedal now !!
