Progress ... hanging sheetmetal!!
What a great project and thanks for the detailed updates which are very interesting. Great to see this piece of history... trucking / firefighting & Chicago... being preserved. Probably not many of those trucks left. Hopefully I'll be able to see this one in person some day.

Yes Bobby real close. I will be going by the shop tomorrow morning. They should be spraying the body. I hope they have most of it done by wednesday when I have to leave for Chicago. My uncle passed Saturday. He was a real good man .... another WWII vet gone. He was in the 29th Division (same division that stormed Omaha beach) He landed in Normandy 11 days after D-Day and was there for the duration of the war. He was drafted at age 18 and didn't get out of the service until he was 21. Can you tell how proud I am of his military service!!!! We are losing 1000 a day from the greatest generation.
The shop said when they are through they will move it to another area. I am nervous about them driving it with the issues it has now. I may send Gerald down there to check on it.
Rob, Its one of three surving rigs from the Patrol. I see you are in IL, if you make it down to FL, I will be glad to show it to you.

Thanks Bobby!
Gentlemen we have some color!! Stopped by this morning and took some pics of fridays work. They will be shooting the body today. The color is called fire engine red. The painter said he is shooting 4 coats of color & 4 of clear. Everything still needs to be wet sanded and buffed.

They are fixing some spots we missed.

All taped up !!

Well if ya can't sleep Keith than get the key's to the shop, go over and work on freeing up the trans and work on the brakes a little. This would definitely help ME sleep knowing they got a better chance of moving it and you getting it home with out damage. Just saying.
Since I am missing my bell mount, I asked the guys at the museum if they could take some measurements of the original one they have. I received this in the mail today. Accurate drawings and a bunch of photos that I can take down to the fabrication shop. I like how the 2 legs join into one. If you are reading this, thanks again Jack!!
