Can someone explain to me how that valve has anything to do with getting oil to the HPOP reservoir?
The res is filled from the LPOP up through a specific passage that goes from the LPOP to the HPOP res. Should have nothing to do with that valve, right?
There is a check ball in the front of the block in the HPOP passage, and some models had a check ball in the front cover, as mentioned, but I don't see how that valve applies here.
Unless it somehow draws ALL low pressure oil from the the HPOP passage when it falls out.
??
Also, you already know there's no oil psi up at the HPOP reservoir.
You want to take Low Pressue Oil readings from one of the ports on the block. There is one above the oil pan near the front of the motor and one near the oil filter, both on the driver's side.

??.
Its another potential for having less head pressure on the LPOP. If the bypass is out then the oil will not be filtered properly as well (side issue)

Your Right. The picture above shows one.
The deaeriation ball falling out or the pickup tube with a crack. Or a combination of 2 or more. If the pickup tube is cracked and the bypass valve is out the combination of the two or more will lessen the discharge head of the lpop.
So right now I think everyone is trying to contribute any problems that could in combination be a portion of the issue.
Anyone have any more ideas? I am sure Evan will accept them.
We could also throw in the possibility of a cracked stand pipe in the reservoir to explain it being empty.
What would happen if the shop installed his LPOP backwards?
OMG
Chris
I read some where where it could be installed a certain way and it could create a issue. I would have thought that those grease monkeys would know a little bit about a install but you may be right.
On another note.
When changing oil in a PSD i allway's rap on the pan.
This is to hear the rumble of a cooling jet that fell into the pan.
Many a PSD has one in the pan!
Sorry, I need to learn to complete my sentences. I got sidetracked with some news that caused a lack of focus.
I was meaning to ask what would happen to the front cover if they installed the LPOP backwards? Granted it hasn't run, but I'm sure they've cranked it over quite a bit. If there's any chance this might be related to an improperly installed LPOP, he'd almost want to videotape pulling the parts off to expose it if there's any chance it's ruined the front cover. That would make the repair a whole lot more expensive.
Truck has been towed to Coastal Diesel Service. They said that they get many trucks from the dealer I had my truck at because of their incompetance.
Don't take your diesel to Cella Ford in New Bern, NC. They don't know what they are doing and have terrible customer service.
I had to pay over $1,000 just to get it released today. The techs at Coastal are going to look over the notes and diagnostics that were done and if anything is out of place or done wrong then I will be taking Cella to court.

You should have called the police.
The dealer would have had to release your property.
Then they have the option to sue you for the repairs.
If i paid with a check i would pay for the stop payment on it.
