Loaded up trucks
1st time the Alternator locked up and shredded the Serp. belt...And consequently found out that these vans run factory hydroboost lol.
2nd time my dad called me and told me the van wouldnt start. ended up being up a bad cap and rotor.
Did I mention I hate working on these vans...My mom's ol 93 A-star and my 91 were way easier to work on. and would run circles around it. 93 was a 4.0 ext, mine was a 3.0 shorty.
Anyway, Not really sure how heavy a Safari is, Im sure its around 5000lbs, It was just like there was a van tailgating me lol. No sagging, didnt slow her down, only felt it on bumps, stopping and taking off from a stop.

But thanks, She is in pretty good shape, but that's her good side lol. It was side-swiped pretty good on the right side. But, I already have a new door, I plan on replacing the bed with a correct year bed. It will be a good learning opportunity in some real bodywork for me.

full of chips, perhaps some wood too (if i can haul off a whole medium size tree like this for example to avoid an extra dump run.)
this load while towing my chipper puts me up around 14-16k gross.
loaded up as shown here, with my chipper, and as n/a this well tuned idi truck will take me up just about any common Maine hill at around 45mph (pretty much the local speed limits) as long as i put her to the mat pre-hill and let her talk 2k+ rpm in 3rd,and then of course mid way up,she'll quickly downshift into 2nd and rev upwards of 3k+ to help keep her momentum.almost always i need to back off before the top of the hill to avoid breaking the speed limit of 45mph.she does nicely.
i will be looking forward to putting the turbo on,but seriously,i wouldn't had bothered with a turbo if there were no fuel economy gains.more power is just not needed for local roads here, and since i keep under the trucks combined recommended gross weights for my work duties, she does just fine.the idi w/E40D is simply a great combo for what i do.
of course we have some 55 mph zones on our larger roads, and this loaded up setup goes very easy out there 55 (im sure much faster too if i so desired, but i hardly go 55 in them zones either.though with this load i did for a few miles in those zones.)
so when checking out my FE records.keep this typical load in mind.after all,i didn't name her "chipper truck" for nothing.

yeah, that is sadly more white stuff we're getting today.
good thing is though, since it's the end of March,we know that crap can't stick around for long anymore.so let it come.
trying to come up with some sort of better aero dump body design with these crazy fuel prices, but i need the bed space as you can see.after all carrying more at once thus reducing more trips, saves miles thereby saving far more fuel than if i cut into bed space reducing the amount i can haul at once.so i guess im stuck.we just need to get rid of Obama and get someone in office who will drill for us!!!! this $100 fill up per tank is just sick.talk about a quick easy way to destroy a small business owner like myself.that's the problem with these damn politicians though, they live in completely different world than the rest of us and don't even think how they're actions effects us working Americans.im so outraged!!
those who hire stuff done need to understand overhead is increased greatly for us.lord help us that they understand increased rates this year or we're done for.having more people with less money everyday on top of this, is a giant snowball effect for doom though.
sorry about the rant guys lol.but im sure many of you are feeling the heat trying to make some money with your work rigs too.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts

Heres our old Slide in Camper we had before the IDI motorhome.
1977 Shamrock 12ft camper, in the F250 back when it was still rust free, and it's original color. It's pretty much gonna look like this once restored to

Like John said, with all I've done to the truck it has to pull good.
Here's an older pic of the the tri-axle it sees again and again.

And towing in a dead one.
