OK guys i know some of us haul some pretty good sized loads. Im curious what the capabilities of these trucks are as far as hauling/towing goes. So lets see a pic of your truck loaded up. I know Dave S. has had some nice loads. and the fella with the "rape" truck had a pic of his truck loaded up with hay i think. Wish i could remember his name lol
We were stripping top soil on a job and people were stopping in asking for top soil.
Several different guys were picking up loads with their pickups.
Dodge and Chevy guys looked at how big the pile was, Ford guys, every one of them, looked at the tires to see how much more they wanted to put on.
Until the tires started to bulge good on a Ford, put on another bucket.
I just thought it was very funny the Dodge and Chevy guys all looked at how the truck was setting and how big the pile was, Ford guys never paid any attention to where the rear bumper was or how big the pile was, they just looked at the tires to decied when they had enough on the truck.
As soon as Star said that, I started laughing again thinking about those guys hauling top soil.
So the nationwide consensus is, your tires will be the weak link that shows up first.
oh i have no doubts about the IDI. Its the rest of the driveline lol
Just a bit under 32,000 lbs apparently, according to an anonymous lady working the night shift at the scales at a fuel station on an undisclosed backcoutry road

You remember the rape truck? That's funny, I forgot that I posted that. Right after I bought the truck we went to work out of town. One of my construction buddies that I've known from before started calling it that. Then one of the guy's that worked for me started in. Hey baby, wanna go for a ride in my new truck? Were kind of sick, I know.
I pulled a 6 x 12 enclosed trailer stacked floor to ceiling with split firewood a month back over the Cascade range. I don't have a scale weight, but figure the loaded trailer was about 11k. I had an industrial grade mechanical splitter in the bed, you know, because there was still room. The steeper the grade, the slower I was, but I was still 10 mph faster than the Walmart convoy I got stuck behind climbing Manastash Ridge.
Not a big load in terms of what some of the guys do here, but it was the biggest I've had so far.
What RPM are you turning at 60mph with 4.56 gears?
2000ish with the E40D. I usually travel at about 1800 which is pretty close to 50mph according to the GPS.
I don't haul to often or to far so I picked up a set of 3.55's to put in it as soon as I can find the downtime. That will get me closer to where I think cruising should be, 100-200 rpm over peak torque.
