Yeh, I think maybe you had too much on, glad to see you scaled back a bit!
Don't know where you hang your hat but in these parts the cops would have you on the side of the road in no time.
This thread can't die! My buddy dropped me this pic the other day from the summer. The loads ranged from 250 + cedar trees, 30-35'+ long, 6-8" at the base tapering down to 2-3" diameter, weighting on average 80+lbs each. You do the math.
Towed a Toyota Corolla 9 hours of highway drive. Car with dolly ~3500 pounds. Camper it's self is 11,000 pounds plus we had a good 1500 pounds of stuff and people inside.
16,000 pounds.... Poor C6
I wasn't much bothered by how slow it took off, but it was bothering by how long it took to come to a stop! lol
For some reason, I thought your truck was grey in the middle dually. Anyway, I bet you weren't pulling that load up any hills
Actually once I'm out of the woods and back on the highway within .5 mile is a hill. It's a 50 zone I'm usually at 45 at the crest. In the harvest season I run about 10 loads, 1 or 2 a week. For this reason I keep the 4.56 gears. Truck has no issues pulling these loads and with tri-axle brakes it stops within reason.
peeing in a pool won't cause a wreck that someone could die in.
I'm a whole lot more worried about something on your truck breaking and killing somebody then a tri axle trailer thats a little over on every axle.
I really don't think you should even tow the way yours is set up.
