I'd love to have a real car hauler, but this flat bed is good enough for the times I'd use it. I have a tow bar for towing trucks or any older vehicle with a full frame.

I use to tow with a tow bar or car dolly. What a royal PITA!! I had some nightmare trips doing that!

After having this car trailer I will never go back to a tow bar or car dolly!! I've had the smaller trailer over a decade now and have probably hauled a couple hundred vehicles on it ( everything from VW rabbits to F600 grain trucks ) , many loads of scrap metal, loads of lumber and some other stuff. The trailer has been well worth every penny it cost!!

After the trailer itself the second best investment was the 12,000 pound winch!! It sure beats using a come-a-long to winch on non running vehicles!

Theres 17 heifers in that trailer. I don't know what the truck and trailer weigh, but the load itself is more than I've grossed before at around 16,000

Pulled just fine. Other than needing low range when backing up it didn't break a sweat. Our roads are pretty flat and we didn't go far. I don't think it would have handled hills very well. The springs were pretty well flat which is why I still have the perches, overloads, and spring packs from my F350. Just need some time and some 13" U-bolts to get 'er done.

I didn't take any pics but for my first trip I loaded about 4,000lbs+ in the box putting my gross at about 12,700lbs. Went about 1,000 miles and ran a little warm on some long climbs. This was not towing anything it was all in the box. I'm about 8,000lbs completely empty.

Hauling 3000 bf green lumber 150 miles, but the last 1/2 mile up to my shop was the test. The elevation rises by 400' in that 1/2 mile of loose gravel. The wood weighed 11,000 lbs and it took everything we had in low range 4wd 1st gear. Our IDIs are a great truck!

Whoops forgot to put these pics here after I got power back the other day, tiny little sissy load of various scrap I took in a couple weeks ago.

The snow from the big storm was just starting, sure made for a pretty drive that day. Wasn't so pretty when by the same time the next day there was over 5 feet of it where I took these.

Man, you did that in a 2WD dually? I can't decide if that's ballsy or just crazy.

Yeah, I know it's not an IDI, but it was a great truck: my old Bronco II pulling a car-hauler trailer loaded with salt cedar:

My '86 F-250 IDI pulling its own means of making fuel -- a biodiesel reactor and a bunch of waste vegetable oil:

Heh you bet, I not sure which either was always told I was a bit of both. Might be a 2WD dually, but at over 7k empty equipped with MT tires and a LS the ol girl goes like a tank. I was really suprised how well it did during that week, was a hell of a test of a truck thats for sure.

In all seriousness though, it may be steep as heck in many places but during a storm that 1 lane road is always plowed/cleared better than the 2 lane hardtop in front of my house, thats the main supply road from the interstate & haul road from the off-site deep mine to the processing plant. During the big storm they were out with graders plowing snow and using dozers to shove all the downed trees and limbs from the road so the trucks could keep going.

It's a steep & bouncy road but a really nice peaceful drive with great scenery, and almost no traffic except the haul/supply trucks. Also doesn't hurt that it takes half as much time & fuel to go that way then the other route to the scrap yard does.

Thought you guys might get a chuckle out of this one.

Needed to move a 40' ex Molson's (BEER!!) trailer back about 75' into it's final parking spot.

Hauled all the gravel in for it first, levelled it out, then needed to back the trailer up.

Well, the flatbed of the truck was about the right height, and the kingpin hit the back of the bed, so guess what?

Yep, the foot of the dolly is clear of the ground by 2-3".

Someday I really should think about more than just the stock dually springs in it huh?
