Here's my first two loads of the year. My friend scored a 79 vette for next to nothing. Then he borrowed a 1980 Camaro to take the 4spd out to put in his trans am.
Here's my 93 7.3N/A IDI pulling around 12,000lbs through the Texas hill country. It was my first time pulling with an IDI and it did okay. No going anywhere in a hurry but it tugged along. Had it up to about 75mph in spots trying to build speed for hills. It would typically lose about 15mph by the top but I wasn't pushing it.
shats the most weight anyone has pulled with an idi? Non turbo im interested in.
i was reading the 24v cummins forums and guys are pullin 20k easy, sometimes up to 30 combined.
Wonder how an ol NA would hold up pullin 20k..
Without having any tongue weight? I pull a 550 bushel J&M gravity wagon, not including the weight of the running gear or the gravity box, the corn alone weighs in at 30,000, thats dry corn at 56lbs a bushel. NA it was terrible, but it would creep up to 30mph after a half mile or so
towed down to md for a race the hills were not fun but she made it, now i have the turbo for next time
How much does your car and trailer weigh? I pull a similar setup to the track with no issues.....about 5000lbs. On steep inclines with CC set I would loose some speed and kick out of CC, but nothing too drastic. I could maintain speed if I gave it a little more throttle than CC would allow. On anything but the steep inclines she would cruise along like the trailer wasn't even there.......CC set at 60-65mph. 7.3 NA c6 3.54's
Dude if your autocrane wasn't in the way you coulda hauled another log! Lol oh you say then how would I have loaded the logs???? LOL Looks awesome to see these rigs doing what they were designed to do.
