I cut the arm off. I measured 10" back from the inside of te c. They are not done yet. I plan on drilling a 1" hole through the new part and the old arm to put a 1" od piece of tube all the way through. If that makes sense.
Paul i talked to the guy at stonecrusher awhile back. They come with a 3/4" or 7/8" heim. The same **** youd use for steering. Compare that to the 3" ballistic joint that is greaseable and rebuildable. I talked to Dr.vic at Ballistic and they have had the 3.0 on there diesel drag/hauler for 4yrs of r&d time and have yet to rebuild them.
The real questionis what are you worried about running the smaller joint for? It's not like you need the 3.0 joint for cruzing the local mall trying to pick up family members.

I just cant see puttin a joint thats the same as for steering to hold up the weight of the truck. Alot of load on that 3/4" shank. Big truck like he wants with 44s on it will put alot of stress on a heim that small. Plus they cant be rebuilt. Cant even grease them to get some life out of them.
I've been planning on running that joint when I get around to extending the arms, but that comparison shot is making me reconsider. Though even the weakest 3/4 heims are rated for something like 40k lbs, and I think the $$ ones can go up to what 70-80? I've seen one guy on FSB run the rock crusher extensions.. he didn't box them and just moved his stock brackets back further on the frame without even bracing them and as far as I know he never had any problems. IIRC, he was running something like 35s and was fairly mildly built. I'll have to see if I can find him over there and see how it's holding up.
i know im not to my front axle yet but i was wondering. which route should i take make my own with a nice huge joint or should i get the extension? i dont like that little joint, but on makin im afraid of not making them completely perfect so i dont dick my my front end up.
If I were building my own Id use the same joints Cheeto bought and build them like he did except put a slight bend in them about where the tire should hit.

Yeah we talked about the bend but im not doing it until i get the front under my truck with the factory arms then ill put the extended arms in. When i start im gonna do the basics first and upgrade as i go. If i try to do it full tilt right off the bat it will be a 4 year project like the crew

What, has Dillan tried to jew you out of every nut, bolt, washer, hood, body panel, and anything else you have too, and then try to sell it back for 3 to 4 times what it's worth?
