well i was thinking about the same joints you got amd i paid 150 for a 10 foot stick of it...i was talkin to the guy that is the best around here. i wasnt sure what kind of joint you are running but he thought he knew what you were running i tried telling him the best i could...he said they dont like the mud at all. if he was thinking right he had one on of his jeeps and said you get alot of play in them because of the dirt. idk just what i was hearing. he has some big mama jama hiems that are the same size as yours, idk thats where im looking for answer? and his hiems is what he is running on his truck he is building now. tube chasis jeep he will be racing in the baja 1000.

thats not a bad price on the DOM. I was expecting a little more for 2.5x.500 stuff.

Ive never heard anything negative on the Ballistic joints. Besides...they are rebuildable if they do get packed with too much crud.

didnt get a whole lot done tonight becuase my worthless friend came over and thought we needed to pull his exhaust off and paint it in his car, came completely un prepared so just got done doing that. but on my hangers since they will be boxed in i did get all the nuts welded on and all the the pieces made, except for the boxed in part. also got me a job at a fab shop. so more money to make this way better hopefully and access to sweet tools. hopefully he gives me crazy hours so i can make crazy money

just don't show the new boss your diff cover disasterpiece and congrats on the job, not only will you be making some cash, but you will be learning in real world conditions, which seems to work out better for most people compared to just shop classes. hopefully you do get access to some trick tools, might help you out if the boss is a cool guy

he is cool. i know him pretty good, he graduated from the class i am in now. the class i take is not a shop class. its a vocational program. my teacher is a *****. his way or the high way, but thats the way you gotta with 20 high schoolers. on the diff cover. i wouldnt call it a disaster. is it awesome. no, but i could give two ****s less. as i said before those welds looks like **** because i was running .023 wire which was way too small for that application. just learning whats the best way to do stuff as i go so o well.

the guy that taught welding at my h/s is the same one who teaches welding out at the community college. he's a buddy of my grandpa, and he taught my sister to weld for 4 years. by her senior year she was an instructor for welding and spent half of her day there. i'm trying to see about getting out at the college for welding and auto mech, because for all the s*** i give you, i can barely weld

ya why you give us **** you dont work on your own ****....my teacher went through the same class that he teaches me in and he is damn good at. make 100 plus ever year, and for no college i would say that is a nice life. one of his students is in alaska welding, 23 years works half the year. brings home 100 plus for working half year...not bad. the guys i just got my job with... 26 years old now he got lucky but he owns a million dollar welding company not bad in my opinion.

dillin, i work on my own *****, just not brakes(see nwu). and i must admit, if i did have a welder, i would be making ridiculous ***** like that cover too. i want a flux welder, because i only have a single car garage and will probably be outdoors if i do weld. but unlike you, i haven't found a job yet, so welding is last on my list of things to do because i honestly don't have anything that needs to be welded right now, i hope the job works out for you though. sounds like a sweet gig for someone like you, ya lucky son-of-a-bitch

Why are you welding fasteners to anything? You did not weld nuts to the inner portion of the frame and then box the frame in did you?
You did box the frame, then drill the holes for fasteners large enough to pass some DOM tubing through and weld it to each side right? Then you simply used a nut and bolt through the entire piece?
This would prevent the two sides from crushing under tension, and would make the frame section twice as strong.
If you welded nuts to the inside of the frame and then boxed it in, the box would serve little to no purpose what so ever.

Do you have a pic of this idea you speak of?
