bought them straight off of bronco graveyard. there for a d44 tube, but that also why i bought the sapcers so it would be a simple bolt up, but its not. so i decided last night im just gonna take my time and grind the **** out of the inside of them and make them fit...thats what most guys did but i wanted it to be simple bolt and i hate grinding with a passion.
x2 i worked in a steel shop as a beveler. running a torch and grinder all day long. every piece of clothing i owned looked like this even with wearing an apron
Are you using the Urethayne bushings? They take quite a bit to compress. So just by snugging the bolts down with a ratchet isn't going to cut it. Get the impact out and tighten them in a cross pattern keeping a close eye in the sides of the bushing. If it starts to press out on the sides, stop. Then measure to see what you have left.
ya karl i used the impact. i said **** on the spacer idea. i just took them to a buddies plasma cut them and now im in the process of griding the centers. I cut them down to like the area where the material is raised up for the last half inch of them . idk if you remember that well or not. so it was an inch of total material taken off
ok i got the c wedges down to 6 3/4" across which i think will be fine if anything ill just open the gap up a little. but i have a question. from the most inner part of the outer c's is 46" on my d44 outside tip to tip of the c wedges are also 46" so should i just scoot the c wedges in a tick and live with the tad bit of bow in the springs or do i grind enough off of the outer c's to make it perfect? i like the second plan but dont know if thats the right one. thanks alot
Well i finally got the stupid wedges taken care of. I only got ones side hooked up because i have a worthless speech to write. but im pumped to have the chasis so close to be sitting on its own weight, one question is the truck is sitting 4* leaning foward. think that would look terrible? Im very excited though to have it sitting on its own weight Well here is a picture of it as of tonight.
Well guys you dont seem interested in my build anymore, but here it is. finally sitting on its own weight again. im tickled to death about it, waiting on motor mounts so i can get the drivetrain mocked up and see how things are going to work out.
You are going to brace those front rear spring hanger drop brackets a lot more, right ? I would try to get a cross brace in there to hook them together if possible. Maby some more bracing on the rear ones too ?
